Ford Mustang to be released in EU

Definitely pleased with my purchase, and I expected to be a little disappointed - definitely not the case. It's exceeded my expectations by a mile.

I agree on the ride height, though I do believe it sits lower than a GT does, but I could be incorrect. Unfortunately the front is already pretty close to the ground, and given how obnoxious the front splitter install is (2 hour job), I'm not sure I want to lower it much more. We shall see!

Just have to decide on the rear wing, and have the radar detector/laser jammers installed now.

GT seem lower if anything and with ford racing setup they have no arch gap, they look superb.

Aggressive front splitters are always an issue on low cars but i can't see it being worse than aerokitted 911 as mine caught on most things.

R wing, simples!

2 inches lower than a regular GT apparently.

I had no issues destroying the splitter on the aerokit 911 either, it was a 10 minute install. I don't know why Ford felt the need to have this splitter be a two hour install with over 20 bolts and three individual sections. Doesn't seem very track car friendly, but oh well.

I'm definitely leaning towards the R wing - if we go with HCM carbon, they charge an extra $275 to paint it.

Get me one un-painted please as $275 to paint a spoiler is crazy lol.

If that Shelby was 2" higher it would be a 4x4 as a 1" drop on GT's eliminates the gap completely. Still it's a minor issue my 911 had similar arch gap in rear but just lived with it as any lower would have meant it scraping every little bump.

Hope you enjoy the snow, had our first taste of it lastnight / this morning!

Yes it is hard resisting going near the loud pedal in the M3 at the moment and doing massive skidz of roundabouts, just too easy. :D

I don't think the Mustang will want to play as easy and if it does will probably create a bigger mess. ;)

See that the Ford Fusion which is like a Mondeo class car in the USA is now getting a twin turbo V6 pumping out 325BHP with AWD:

Do you guys think there is no market for such a car here in the UK, I'd have thought there would be a market for such a car for those who want a fast rep or safe fast family car. I would have thought a Mondeo around £30,000-£35,000 with AWD and 300+ horsepower could sell OK here.

Or are Ford maybe scared it conflicts too much with Focus RS and Mustang on our little island?

Don't think they would sell that many, VW managed to shift less than 80 of my car over a 6 year period and that has the same configuration, most people who are willing to pay 35k want a BMW or Merc badge on the bonnet and something with better fuel consumption.

Yep - wouldnt sell well over here. The Insignia VXR (same power, AWD), which although has an older engine design, is not a volume seller. Same price too.

I agree that I don't think it would sell well. Private car owners mostly want bling & MPGz, company car drivers care about low BIK, so it would be a low volume seller and therefore probably not worth Ford's time & effort to bring it to the UK.

Back to Mustangs!

Insurance sorted, £409 with all modifications declared and value of modifications insured. :)

Collecting car at 4pm if all goes well, and it is snowing, oh the joys! :D

Nice one, straight up the Cat & Fiddle for some drifting then :p

it is deja vu, when I collected my last Mustang, it was February, out in the middle of nowhere and snow covered narrow lanes.

I think the snow has stopped though now and roads shall be clear, already informed the dealership exhaust will be on it within 24hrs and they are OK with catback exhaust with no implications on warranty. :)

Sweeeeeeeeeet :) Next time I'm passing close to Stoke I'm popping in for a gander!

Pretty much all reviews say the same, full of character, fantastic engine, incredible value for money and they want to compare it too things like BMW M4's, F-Types and Mercs but because of value they look at the BMW M235i as this is a car that offers similar performance for the same money.

Having driven the M135i I can say it is a fantastic sorted car with incredible performance for the money if you go with the 7/8 speed auto and is a very chuckable car with great handling due to its lightweight and small physical dimensions. Infact most regard the M235i as the best M car BMW have right now, though the M2 should eclipse that and be the new modern day CSL hero though that again cost more.

Still the suspension issue of the Mustang is easily resolved with FRPP kit, but simplicity is I wanted a Mustang, not a BMW, Mercedes or a Dodge Challenger, a Mustang and it just happens to be a great all rounder that is great value for money. :)
