Ford Vignale

I can see this going the same way as the Vauxhall Elite, which was an Omega with a few extra features (later became known as the Omega Elite). Why not just call it a Mondeo, as that's what everyone other than the actual owners will do.

If it were RWD then I'd certainly find it more appealing. But I quite like mondeos.

Then again I'm a jap car fan so I like it rough round the edges :p

A polished ****.

This might sell to the workmen that has done good. I wouldn't mind sitting in the back if it was a taxi.

Well equipped Mondeo geared to line up against the next class up sounds appealing on paper, but this doesn't delivery in the slightest imo...
RWD/4WD with a much more interesting engine (bet the focus RS engine would squeeze in.... if not a V8 from a Mustang :D) and maybe it would be interesting alternative. Otherwise I can't see how it's ever going to get chosen over a 5 series or similar!

Meh, I think it's a great looking car. It'd be much more attractive if it had the engine options to match but for me, a 2.0T is a bit crap for a car of that size and at that price...

A 2.0T is exactly what you'll find in similar cars from BMW and Audi...

Maybe, but I wasn't making the comparison. I wouldn't buy the comparable BMW or Audi for the same reason.

You wouldn't buy a 3, 4 or 528? I would - I'd mourn the loss of the extra cylinders every day but they still look to be an excellent package

Personally, the only reason I'd get a BMW is if it had a 6 cylinder engine. Having sat in the Vignale and seeing one earlier, I think I'd happily buy it over a similarly priced BMW (discounts aside). My only real complaints would be the look of the centre console and it being FWD. But Mondeos handle well regardless of the latter so not much of a concern.

The front looks like a Jag, which you can understand considering they are also Mondeos :p Then you come round to the back and have to puke at the Mondeo styling.

Visually different but the same underpinnings. More modern infotainment etc in the mondeo. Both seem to be reviewed as "good but not great". Certainly from what I've read the mondeo seems to have lost its driver focused edge that it always had

Interesting thought - the big sell with this is all the "VIP service" stuff... I wonder if that transfers when bought second hand

They do, it's a Ford Mondeo Vignale (albeit no Mondeo designation on the back). Last I saw they intend to do an S-Max Vignale too.

Ah ok, that makes sense, I was thinking it would be classed as a new model (albeit it still being a Mondeo). So it's just the new top spec Mondeo then.
