I imagine this happens a lot when watching/reading translations. If only I knew all these other languages!

Sounds like you watched it with dubbing rather than subtitles? I've always preferred subtitles myself. Can't get used to the lip-sync mismatch when it's dubbed.
 
The Downfall (2004). A brilliant German film on the last few week's of Hitler's life, without being ruined by the 'AMERICA **** YEAH' theme that most war films have.

As others have said, City of God (2002) is brilliant.

Das Boot (1981) is pretty decent too!
 
isn't another issue are they available on a streaming service - is there a tell me where I can see this web-site ?
