Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Have you looked at open university, maybe pick a module you might enjoy and go from there. lots of people on here recommend them, plus you can work while your doing it:)

OU is something I've not looked into yet. Been looking at vendor specific stuff for a while as I was under the impression they are generally well recognised and sought after

Would anyone be able to cast a quick eye over my CV? I've just returned from a jolly around SE Asia and need to get myself a new job so thrashed out an up to date CV. Quite happy with it, but another set of eyes would be nice. Would rather keep it private than post it on a public forum, if that's OK?

Was the Vietnam brewery not a goer then?

I was offered a handful of jobs whilst I was over there (though only one related to brewing), but I quickly realised that I didn't actually fancy the idea of living in S.E. Asia. It's a very different place to here, and not for me. Great for a holiday but not for work.

Hey ho, better to give something a go and realise it's not for you rather than never trying!

Don't go for one in a school.

You will be asked to do EVERYTHING for little to no pay.

I'm on 12.6k term time only, But i do The following:

Run Clubs
Computer repairs
Maintenance
Imaging
VLE Managing and Maintenance <- ONLY ME
Web Design and maintenance <- ONLY ME
1st line support
2nd line support
3rd line support
Sims support

Did i mention also food bringer for the Office?

All for £950 per month after tax. And £180 of that goes to Tesco per month on fuel.

DON'T WORK IN A SCHOOL!

If he wants experience, which he won't get on a first line job, yes, he should

well this has been a odd one. got a call monday from a job i applied for 19th of may Oo

interviewed at home yesterday and he says i should get a call today about what happens next.

talk about out of the blue.

if it runs as i think it does il at least have time on my hands to do other things when not working. its 30 hours as week but being nights the shifts are 10-9am mon-fri and then weekends are 5pm-9am, you only do one sat or sun at a time. so will be 2-3 days a week. so i can try and do something else on the side for extra money.

**** that. Seriously. That's ridiculous money

Forgot how hard engineering apprenticeships are to get these days that aren't in min wage. Still wanting a career change but good ish money for a apprenticeship in engineering is like rocking horse **** I've applied for one and there over 2000 applicants for 1 post seems routine.

Anything beats the dole, bro. :)

I second that.

I do an awful job, I am verbally abused daily, physically assaulted twice, work every evening bar Sunday and Monday for a tenner an hour on a 48 hour week.

But I would still choose it every single time over the dole.

I just live in hope I can find something else.

I started on 650 a month in the school I was in, then worked up to 1800. Helps if you can get a contract that is full time on not just term time.

I think its a good way to get some experience and potentially Allows you to get a feel for what you might want to specialise in.

Yup its terrible. They were actually looking for a Simple Junior ICT Tech to fit this role and the pay grade.

But once i got here, along with my Degree and experiance they have just chucked Crap loads at me thinking i would be happy to do it all. And tbh i am happy to do it all, But i have told one of the SLT members that i will need a pay rise as this is unacceptable. He said i was right and will see what he can do.
problem is the Council don't see IT support as a role worthy of a higher pay, They would rather pay a woman who sits in the admin office doing paper work 10K more than me per year, Who also is term time only and also leaves at 3:30PM where i am here till 5! ARRGH Anyway... I will stop ranting.

I would rather do term time, As i get the holidays off with my wife who is also a teacher.

So, I'm currently waiting to hear more from the consultancy firm I mentioned a few posts ago. It seems their client is dragging their feet a bit so timelines are being revised, but all being well I'll be starting with them soon on a daily rate.

I've been invited to an interview with a bank in Edinburgh on Monday. Great, I guess. A bloody nuisance to get there and back though!
