I shall be there tomorrow (weds) so shall keep a look out for you guys, not much of a photography person but I'll have my sony w5 taking rubbish photos (which will be the cameras fault...;))

me and howell80 will be there for round about 9 am

been speaking with joe t and he said just to follow the signs and when you get to the main gate just to say you have come to watch and they will advise you where to park. parking is apparently outside the circuit but not too far to walk.

no worries.

I forget to email you, that I don't think I can get the time off work and also I have to hand a coursework after bank holiday. :(

it looks like I won't be able to make it to any motosport until september.

May be there on Thursday...

Depends if I'm able to walk properly again. Still recovering from surgery. :(
Will know Thursday morning.

If I'm there I'll be in the pitlane all day. *It's not what you know - it's who you know. ;)*

dont know what happend but I hope you'll get well soon Flibster

Cheers. :D

Just some minor surgery - involved removing some extra bone from one of my ankles to help me walk properly and as such take the stress of my already knackered knees.

Got the other one next week to look forward to. Joy of joys.

So did anyone pick up one of the £10 passes? Are they worth it? Do you get them on the day?

DLH, those pit shots are great, where were you to take those? And what kind of length lens?

The £10 pass doesn't let you in the middle anymore , only gives you entry to the club stand. It's £95 if you want entry to the middle of the circuit

and my first piccy...

OMG, it was AMAZING. the sound of those cars is awesome, never heard anything like it :)

not been back long. me and howell80 really enjoyed it and got a stack of photos

just uploading images now and will post some up sometime this evening.

didnt see or hear anything about special passes tbh, but there were plenty of great places to get good pics especially around the luffield corner.

saw a nice crach from one of the red bull cars, heard this loud scratchy noise and then all of a sudden a red bull came sliding round the corner, wrong way round prob about 100mph and slammed into the barrier, bits of gp car everywhere.

big cloud of smoke that settled after a while and a couple of mins later thankfully the driver climed out unscathed.

unfortunatly i had just put the camera away at this stage ready to go get lunch so didnt get any shots of the crash at all :(

Tip #1 - be at least 3 inches taller than I am. At 5ft7 I was struggling to get my lens over the fencing and panning was nearly impossible.

Tip #2 - don't carry an umbrella, it will get in the way just at the wrong time.

Tip #3 - don't put your camera away ever ;) (see above)

I was lucky to have someone pass me a paddock pass which got me into the paddock and pit area. The Honda shot was taken from between the Honda and Williams garages. JB was outside his motor home just before he went in for lunch and Jock Clear was taken at the back of the Honda garage. Unfortunately I missed Nico Rosberg although he was standing 2ft from me. JPM strolled past everyone (he's even shorter than I am!) and DC seemed to stay locked in his motor home playing on his PS2 after lunch :)

I spent most of the day with my Sigma 70-300 on my camera but the 17-85 came out a couple of times.

I'd like to get back for more tomorrow but don't think I will get there. The weather wasn't great but the noise and atmosphere more than made up for it.

Roll on June.

If only it was 100mph....

Liuzzi unhurt in testing smash

Vitantonio Liuzzi escaped injury in a heavy testing accident at Silverstone on Wednesday.

The Italian, testing for the senior Red Bull team for the second time this year, crashed at the entry to the very fast Becketts complex shortly before one o’clock.

He made a precautionary visit to the circuit medical centre but was uninjured.

The RB2 was badly damaged and Liuzzi will play no further part in the day’s proceedings, but is expected to return to action on Thursday.

"Going into Becketts he lost control of the car and he’s had quite a sizeable accident at 275kph (170mph)," Red Bull boss Christian Horner told ITV-F1.com.

"The car got away from him but he’s fine.

"At the moment we don’t understand why it happened because he was going no faster or slower than on previous laps.

"The engineers are going through the data now to try and see what happened.

"It’s certainly focused his mind a bit.

"He’s okay, that the main thing.

"He won’t run this afternoon but he’ll be back out tomorrow and the car will be ready for him."
