Forza 2 Demo - Feedback

Im really liking the AI too actually. They wont give you their line and if you have the line depending on their character they can be aggressive or slip back. Ive had some awesome races against the AI, one guy i purposefully hit and he hit me back :eek: I also brake tested one guy into the corner and he just didnt have enough time to react and slammed into the back of me.. haha!

Ye its good but would have liked a setting to turn up difficulty was finding it to easy in most of races. :)

I have some good early battles with them though they shut off racing line so you cant get through. Got to pick your spot carefully and once your through to 1st place i have never been taken again only time was when i lost control on last or 2nd to last corner.

AI? I have to slow down to get involved with them, you lot must be really slow :p

something must be wrong with your copy cos you always start in 4th :p

I actually seen an AI car run into the back of another because it wasn't going quick enough, like it was, thats my line i am accelarating, and i was like 'Eh'

Right, I've only managed to have a handful of laps over dinner, here is my gut feel...

The 'jaggies' or lack of AA I didn't notice. Maybe it's because I'm more concerned with the game itself than an aspect some people seem so hung up about. Honestly, I didn't notice anything that concerned me.
The sensation of speed is good, and the engine runs smoothly.

I'm a big fan of the GTR series and LFS on the PC. I like PC sims. I don't claim to be the master of all PC racing sims, but I've played them a fair bit, and the thing that's always attracted me to them is the physics.
Granted I only had limited time on the demo this lunch but I can honestly say the handling felt really good to me. With the wheel in my hands I could feel the car handling through corners. I went straight in with no aids and made a mess of things instantly (I'm actually very glad about). The braking is rather sharp, I had to learn to really ease my foot on the brake pedal as the wheels do lock easily. But, it felt quite natural to me, and certainly is the best sensation I've had away from a PC game - in essence no problem with the braking, seems really good.

There's loads to this game, I can feel it! Can't wait to get on it later and start putting some laps in, checking the telemetry etc. Apologies for writing gibberish in places, I'm excited! :D

I liked the demo. shame there Is just one track.
Thought the graphics were good and no tearing ect.
didnt think the jaggies were as bad as some have been claiming.
very smooth and look forward getting into the real game. :)

PS- running on samsung 26 R74 HDTV.. (component)

seems on xbox.com a lot of complaints about the jaggies, and what with the game out in a few weeks i don't expect as like many others any improvement, unless the demo is old code or had to be limited somehow due to its download size.

The demo is from the final build they say. It's as-is unless there is a disclaimer on the demo somewhere, saying its not representative of the final product?

Oh yeh, while i was saying the AI are good, they are slow.. Still trying to get a really hot lap in.. my best is a 52~ with major mistakes.

Im also never playing without ABS.. the wheels lock so easily without it i dont think it makes it more enjoyable.

If it's like Forza 1 then the AI will get significantly tougher later on in the game.

Just played the demo, loving the cars handling. The breaking isnt a problem as long as your not hammering down the button? So dunno why people complain of that. Loving the graphics. Not "omg awesome leet" but nice and polished with no glitches or slow downs! As for the gameplay. I like it, each car handles lovely, loving the E36 M3 as well! :D Sideways fun!

I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about a lack off AA, clearly their is some AA at work here, mostly its bits of the cars i see the odd jaggy on, the environments appear jaggy free for me.

Runs smooth, although ill be honest and say the smoothness difference from the replay (30fps) and in-game(60fps) isn't that much different, id happily play it still if it ran at the replay's 30fps with the improved visuals :)

playing without ABS is more or less impossible with the pad, but then i'm sure having it on would be considered "more" realistic ? or do they not have abs brakes in real races :eek:

Overall I like it, probably keep my pre-order for it :)

Hm? Reduced how? Might be a couple of environments less but there are a lot more cars and tracks in the sequel.
Saying that there are 'more tracks' is misleading and disingenuous. To me having five variations of one track doesn't mean that you can say they are five different tracks. To me it is one track, with a few variations. More cars - fine, but personally that's of little interest to me as you don't see your own car while you're driving anyway, so it is rather moot. To reiterate, there are less tracks in Forza 2 than in Forza.

Forza 2 tracks.

* Mugello Autodromo Internazionale
* Suzuka Circuit
* Sebring International Raceway
* Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
* Tsukuba Circuit
* Road Atlanta
* Silverstone Circuit
* Nürburgring Nordschleife
* Maple Valley Raceway
* Sunset Peninsula Infield
* New York Circuit
* Test Track

A pretty limp effort in my opinion.

I'm glad I've got him on ignore tbh. No doubt it's:

1) Oh I'm so glad I've not bought a seat - which would never of been mentioned if Latte hadn't ordered one.

Ive had 2 hours practice with the seat and wheel on PGR3 last night.
Early comment but worth every penny, the wheel really allows much more accurate turn in and throttle control but drive erratic with it and youll have your hands full.

This is a game thats always going to have lovers and haters, my answer is their are a lot worse looking handling and racing games with very poor AI to boot. Ive only done 3 races with this demo at work on a monitor and so far the handling is pleasing me, very smooth its a nice racer, the audio imo is fantastic, engines, tires totally superb i cant wait to crank it up at home in 7.1

As for the jaggies, yes bit of an eyesore however im playing it at work in 480p so cant determine how bad it is in HD and if the full game will improve onit. Then again F1,Motorstorm,GTHD,Virtua Fighter 5 both 720p and 1080i games on another platform ALL suffer from jaggies, its not a problem only related to X360 or this title.

Just had my first race on it with an M3 and placed 3rd.

Thought it was well Didnt really notice much jaggies at all once moving. No where near as bad as PGR AA.

Runs awesome! And looks great!

Gonna be getting fo show!

The game reportedly takes 70 hours to reach level 50 and in essence complete the game. You then have 300+ cars which all handle differently and on top of that all are tunable so i totally disagree with comments this game lacks content or would be repetitive too quickly.

In comparison:
F1 has less than 26 cars and less than 20 tracks, year in year out yet it sells and people love it. Ferrari F355 one of the best console racers ever had how many tracks, Motorstorm has how many, i rest my case...

Also as mentioned several times already DLC will add new tracks with Rio and the other enviroments the original game had to come later.

I agree. I would prefer to have the game now to play and get use out of and download tracks as they become available. I just hope these don't cost extra to buy though, that would be a big shame.

F355 had 12 tracks IIRC (six unlockable).

But what you should be comparing Forza 2 to, is other games in the same genre. In other words:

Gran Turismo 4 and Forza 1.

Forza 2 has less tracks and less variety than Forza 1. Forza 1 had a number of city tracks and it had several point to point tracks. Forza 2 has ONE city track and NO point to point tracks.

As for GT 4, well it has a vast amount of content and variety doesn't it.

Oh and the DLC tracks: will they feature in the offline career and/or 'arcade career' modes?

It was when I read that comment, I realised your just trolling.

P.S you forgot Nissan Speedway. :)

Pointing out the self-evident truth that you can't see your own car while you are driving, is trolling. Hmm.
