Forza 2 Demo - Feedback

All driving aids on - I'm OK
All driving aids off - I may as well give up! :p

Seems OK so far, hard to judge yet, will have a proper blast later.

So all in all this is a bit of a let down then?

No! :p

Then again I always thought that this would just be a 'good' racing game, I never expected it to live up to the levels that some people hyped it to be.

Still, this is only the demo with one short track so I don't think you can make a complete judgement just yet.

Only if if the game developers build the engine from the ground up to support tiling.

Yeah but this is a game buy MS game studios, been built from the ground up on this hardware, i would think they would know that.

I think the whole free AA is a bit of a myth, which is a shame as it would have rocked :(

This generation is screaming out for a good racer, i think thats why GT:HD is so popular. The best actual racer on this gen is Moto GP and that has its issues.

Can somebody please tell me what settings are available for the wheel and pedals, if any.
Thanks.

there is no settings that can be changed for the wheel. on the final loading screen it still shows the button layout for the pad, but once the race actually starts the wheel works great. FFB is enabled and manual gears are allocated to the flippers.

only had a couple of races so far, driving the M3 and won both :)

FFB works very well and is nice and strong. the vibration is also very strong, far stronger than i have felt on the wheel before. going of the track is like using a kango hammer lol

will post more findings after i check out the other car classes :)

I think there is more wrong with the graphics than just lacking AA, no?

Pro's

  • Handling of cars is a lot fun and far more challenging than most other racers
  • I expect it to be a lot of fun online, especially with damage realism : )
  • Smooth frame rate

Con's

  • Draw distance is a bit pants, cars in the very distance end up as a mass of pixels and scenery in the background lacks realism
  • Where's the drivers point-of-view angle?
  • Some jaggies

Not for me, and the apparent lack of AA isn't even bothering me.

What are you referring to?

It looks a lot like MotoGP in many ways.

PGR3 looked so much nicer when it came to scenery, the Nurburgring for example was ace.

Moto GP has great high detailed riders, but i have recently started to notice that the environments are very bland :(

I just took a lap of the track just slow checking out the details, its actually very nice, never been to Mugello but it looks pretty much spot on, tried to find a way to get past the concrete blocking off the full track but no joy yet LOL, I said PGR3 looks better, well I maybe change my mind about that seeing the track at slow speed, now I have gone to bumper cam I think it looks a lot better, even the AI cars looks smoother on the eye.

That's how racing games are meant to be played, if you're any good that is.

I'm sorry where is that law written? There was chase view before there was bumper view. So use chase view, if you're any good that is.

Cheers mate.
Shame, I was hoping that we will be given options to adjust sensitivity and so on.
How is it compared to PGR3?

Looks good & sounds good. Plays better than the first game. Everything just feels smoother. Cant say that the lack of AA bothers me too much, but then my screen isnt that big. So glad they didnt lock the in-game at 30fps with AA/eye candy etc, cos when you watch the replays the difference between 30fps and 60fps is colossal. Disappointed that there isnt a time-attack mode in the demo though.
