Forza 2 latest Update and Demo Discussion Thread

In some respects Forza's physics were superior. In other respects they weren't though, eg. screeching tyres and vibrating controller every time you corner or brake even gently... GT wasn't like that.

Being a PC sim regualar, and a car enthusiast who has done a fair bit of real-life tracktime I can safely say that the physics of GT are way short of being realistic.

I never owned/played the original Forza, so I can't say if it's physics were better than GT, but I have high hopes for Forza 2 with it's 360hz physics engine.

He was referring to Forza 2's physics, which look far more advanced compared to the original Forza or any of the GT games.

That's madness!! :(

I can see the logic though, i think it is done to stop pictures of things like a big willy or otherwise offensive things appearing on cars etc. Moto GP went as far as to ban text on bikes online incase you had an offensive slogan. Sure some creative folk may be able to get naughty things, but the idiots that would do these things tend not to be creative enough :)

You can easily make text using the shapes you get in FM1, I expect FM2 will be much the same, plus you can draw big willy's if you wanted :D

I would have thought that the 360fps physics thing is hype. Forza 1 is said to have 60fps physics (versus its 30fps framerate) but it certainly doesn't feel any more responsive than other 30fps driving games. Which is to say it feels less responsive than 60fps driving games.

I knew as soon as my 360 was picked up for repair that would be the day the demo is released, dam your demo gods to hell  :p , thing is though if it is released today I don't know if I'll be able to stop myself buyinga core pack :o
Even though your 360 is in for repair, you'd spend perhaps £180 just to try the demo a bit sooner?

FPS independent physics are most definately not hype. Rfactor originally used to poll the physics at the screen FPS, then in a patch they locked the polling to 100fps, and it made a MASSIVE difference to the feel. Everything feels 'tighter' and quicker to respond.

'far more advanced'? Why?

Far more advanced tyre models (slip curves etc), more complex suspension travel/weight shifting algarythms, things like that.

Turn 10 have spent a massive amount of time on the tyre models alone.

Add that to the fact that all those complex mathematics are updating 360 times every second and you have a very advanced physics engine.

Like one of the devs says if your physics engine is only running at 60fps and your travelling at 100mph you might clear 10 feet of track in the time it takes the physics to update. It means they can add a lot more detail to bumpy tracks like Sebring and you will feel every bump no matter how fast your travelling. A good physics framerate will also give you more detailed telemetry which helps when your tryin to make a nice setup for your car. I would suggest watching this vid:

There still no official confirmation yet,but expectations are high within the Forzaworld, stating that Microsoft always release new demos of any kind around 12PM ET,which means 5 o'clock our time this afternoon.

Ye times have been 10:30 am to 5pm for demos in UK never been later then 5pm to my knowledge. :)
