Forza 2 - Return or not?

Today I have received Forza 2 LE.

It's here on my desk, sealed and ready to play.

It was sent last week from Singapore at 07:20 last Wednesday.

On the same day, I received an email from the supplier saying, and I quote:

We have shipped out the xbox360 forza motorsport 2 game to u but due to the game cannot be played in your console, please send back the game to us. PLEASE DO NOT OPEN THE PACKAGE.

Ship back to:

We will refund u the money only when we receive the return game.

Few things sprung out. The 'h4xx0r' language didn't seem professional, maybe they are been trendy, who knows. But I replied and asked if this was genuine and got a reply saying...

Yes this email is true, there's some problem with the game. We are recalling them all back

We will give u your full refund

I've checked the headers of the emails, and they do look genuine, but I can't help but feel something isn't right!

Anyone else bought a game from "MegCD" in Singapore and had these emails?
 
Erm? They want you to return it because it won't work on a PAL console, whats the issue?

I thought that Pike, which would be genuine, but Forza2 afaik is region free.
 
'Should' be ok then. If it's not then a relinquish myself of any responsibility.

LOL! Not opened it, the instructions say no and I don't want any problems in returning it if it's opened.

I'll just have to wait till Thursday/Friday until another one comes.
 
Turns out the Asian version isnt region free. I ordered it off the bay thinking it was (was advertised as region free), turns out it wasnt and they cancelled the order and refunded me.
 
My Asian ebay order, i have heard nothing from, did BIN on the 29th May :(

Meanwhle, the UK distributor i pre-ordered from (Was going to cancel if the Asian one got here) says wil be disptached thursday!

Hmm..wonder how much i could ebay my LE code for? hehe :D

I thought all these people on here playing it all got it from Japan as it was region free? :confused:

And what H4xxor language did they use??

If you think it is a hoax send an e-mail to an e-mail address on the actual web site, not just reply to the e-mail you got sent.
 
I may file a formal complaint to Mr. Spie, simply because several OCuK members including the console forums moderator has made it out that the import copies work just fine on EU 360 consoles. My friend recieved his import copy today because I showed him the large thread and he is annoyed, and placing some blame on me because I said he could place a lot of confidence in OCUK and its memberbase (being a reputable site and all). Now I have an angry friend, and several other members being bitten in the arse.

I will make a list of those who 'claim' they have import copies that work (they are all on the forza 2 demo thread), post that list later on and ask them all to prove it's the real thing before the EU game releases - if they fail I will lodge a formal complaint including asking for suspension/removal of such members (including the moderator in question because that just irritates the hell out of me).

I can't believe so many people have wasted their money. I am deadly serious with this post by the way. The actions of some members have put the site into some level of disrepute in my opinion, and I know some others will agree.

lol you cant really hold a forum to a court a of a law, no matter what anybody says, who is Spie it could be registered to anybody, I learnt my lesson I normally wait but I jumped in at got Forza 2 but I am atleast making some money on my mistake. :p

I agree, in principal, but in practice nothing will be done. Every time a new 360 games comes out, someone feels the need to boast with their gamertags or by posting screenshots of a pirated copy of the game. When questioned, they just claim import copy or something. I think for a while it was totally off limits to post any info/screenshots etc from a game not released in the UK. But now this has become a bit slacker.

Credit to the Don (NathanE I assume). I reported the people who had screenshots from the game in the Forza thread from pirated copies and they got their posts deleted, which is the best you can hope for to be honest. Although I guess the damage is done if people bought the game based on the misinformation in the threads.

What annoys me is that it wasn't simply a case of someone implying that the game was region free. We were specifically TOLD Forza 2 was region free and in a way that made it look idiotic for even daring to ask the question!

Unfortunately nothing is going to come of this. We took the chance (albeit we were told it was a sure fire thing) and ended up losing out.

Just learn the lesson i guess.
