Forza 4

How can it possibly work well? You turn your head now and see if you can see the screen still. Multi monitor support would be more favorable than kinect imo.

It's more subtle than that, you don't look away, track IR on pc shows how well it can work :D

might get kinect just for this, but what's the minimum distance you can be from it to work? i'm 2-3 feet from the monitor and don't want to be right across the room.

No chance apparently. It's designed for mahoosive US sitting rooms. Needs 8-10 feet according to my mate who has one.

I can just about get away with 6ft in my living room. That is for full body tracking though, bare in mind that to Kinect only has to 'see' your head to do head tracking, so it will probably work with a lot less room in FM4.

I can imagine your arms really aching after a while with no actuall wheel to support the weight of your arms, the trackIR aspect does look nice, and about the same price as trackIR, but i wonder if you can use the controller and the kinect for head movements?

It's very evident that Microsoft want to give users lots of reasons to purchase Kinect this year with so much support, integration being shown.

Regards FM4 it will be interesting how they have implemented "Voice Control".
I'd personally like that for car selections, eg just saying "Ferrari", for all Ferrari Cars and then choosing by saying "458".

Maybe it will be used more for the virtual garage and opening doors etc but well it's got me interested and I had no interest in Kinect before.

Can't wait to see the FM4 event on Wednesday

You can use Kinect for head-tracking only, still using your wheel/controller for steering/accel/braking etc.. If that's what you meant..

and some IGN Off-screen videos', 12 cars on the track in the E3 Demo..

and a nice interview with DAN G on channel9

The physics is intriguing, rather then just come up with a tyre model from all the data from Pirelli, they have got pirelli to get the actual data of each tyre under every condition, and they use that directly (think look-up table).
My comments on that are mixed, it will give some aspect of realism at a high level (the overall feel of the car), but where as a traditional model can have lots of variables to play with, to have enough raw data to model lots of variables would seem quite a task due to the size of data required, so it might be less complex at a low level..

I can do this neat thing where I turn my head but keep my eyes looking at something in front of me.

You Want To Watch These Videos!!!

My own predections were right regards Fanatec/T10 repeat collaboration as Cliffy B has also confirmed that Fanatec's new high end wheel is indeed at the show and on their motion simulator.

Kotaku have also shown pictures of Microsofts New Official Wheel, err think Mario on the Wii.

Your link is borked.

Either that alps course they keep showing is slippery as hell, or something doesn't look quite right in the handling... It looks very slidey.

That new official wheel looks like something that should have been dropped at the prototype stage, hideous in form and function.

Let's hope Pirelli do for FM4 what they have done. For F1

Hmmmm. Without a DFP or DFGT equivalent wheel available for the 360 I just can't get that excited by another Forza game.

I loved Forza 3 but the lack of an affordable wheel that isn't **** lost the immersion for me, along with the lack of tracks. I love the driving and overall feel and setup of the game, they can only improve on that I feel... but it's useless without a ~£100 wheel.

GT5 I hate, such a grind and very clunky IMO, was great fun with the wheel for a while but I prefer the Forza way of presenting you with races and challenges. Give me a wheel and the dynamics of a wheel like for GT5 in Forza and I'm sold!

As for Dan Greenwalt. It's his job to hype it up. But Forza 3 was such a big success they only need to capitalise on that so I suspect this iteration of Forza is more of a refinement than a new game like Forza 3 was, so less to prove in a way. I don't mind him either way.

F4 seems like F3 with a lick of paint. hardly any ground breaking new features.

i was expecting F4 to at least have near or enough same features as GT5 i.e weather effects, day and night cycles and qualification and practise rounds but no mentioning of any of those

/\ This. Most concerning, 4th release of the franchise and possibly still the sterile tracks with no time or weather changes...
