I cant imagine it would be.It's very CPU bound
Racing games are often criticised for being CPU bound, and in this game it's very clear if you monitor CPU usage and GPU usage. I don't know what it is about this kind of game that causes this, but I would guess that the AI and physics engines are very advanced and will be eating up a lot of CPU cycles.I cant imagine it would be.
Anyways, for me, I haven't played it in a while because I could not get the violent stuttering under control. It'd be fine for a bit, but I'd almost always be affected by it at some point during a play session. I still think it's something to do with the memory management and nothing to do with performance, as it would happen randomly and in same situations that it was running fine before.
It really has nothing to do with performance or settings. Nothing changes it and I've heard from plenty of others with wildly different setups experience it, too. And it's not just a 'bit' of stuttering, it can be quite drastic pauses.Racing games are often criticised for being CPU bound, and in this game it's very clear if you monitor CPU usage and GPU usage. I've noticed a bit of stuttering too mainly when driving though the starting area of some tracks, but most of the time it's very smooth when limited to 60 FPS. It would be good to know your specs if you're having problems with stutter, and the game settings you're using.
I think your tarring us all with your own brush there.
I've put plenty of time into it, getting 3 medals on all events including all the time limited showcase events.
Apex isn't meant to be a game, it's more a technical proof of concept around running the Forza engine on PC, plus a method to gauge interest.
Horizon 3 and FM7 will be full games.
Maybe the stuttering could just be due to the game still being in beta and they still have a lot of work to do to make it run smoothly on lots of different hardware. I could just be lucky that it runs well on my system, although I did notice one "drastic pause" of about a second, then it just continued as normal. It really has nothing to do with performance or settings. And I'm still not sure how this game would be CPU bound when it runs at 60fps just fine on the XB1 with a far inferior CPU.
That is very likely the case. The stuttering was not at all indicative of any performance issues. They were too big to be frametime issues and I saw no drops in framerate during them, so memory definitely seems to be the most obvious culprit.Edit: Actually when I first tried the game when I had only 8GB RAM and a GTX 660 (2GB) it stuttered horribly unless I lowered settings. The stutter could be caused by limitations in RAM and VRAM.
It might be a good idea to monitor it with MSI Afterburner or something similar, so you can see how much RAM and VRAM are being used during a race. I think when I checked the VRAM used was around 3.5GB, and that number should be alarming for anyone with a GTX 970, for obvious reasonsThat is very likely the case. Runs fine for me everything maxed out @1440p with i7 3770k and AMD 290 only AA is on dynamic and becuase how I need to record desktop mode for this DX12 title I do lose around 10/15fps
wanna try this but only when wheel support is added
I got it sort of working with a 3rd party program, but the camera was always faced left and it cycled through menu options at an erratic rate.
