This doesn't happen to me on my 144Hz Dell S2716DG. Forza Horizon 4 does default to 72FPS though. Make sure your friend has gone into the graphics options and changed it to 144FPS.
 
I managed to get some sneaky deals tonight on the auction house, nabbed a Lyken Hypersport, Pagani Huayra, Ferrari 458 S and a 430 all for less than 3 mil.

Yeah there have been a couple of ones like that recently, The BMW I8 Roadster & McLaren 650s Spyder are essentially the same cars we had already. The 650 Spyder is even more annoying though as the roof doesn't even go down!

That being said I'm looking forward to the FXX coming tomorrow.
 
ok as it turns out it was a forza issue i had with sound i just reinstalled the game and everything is back to normal.
 
I finally managed to push beyond 200 MPH at the drag strip, now hitting 203 MPH !! :D

I found a tune for the McLaren F1 GT called something like "300 MPH GLITCH"
use that :)

and yes Atari, it does break the 270 MPH barrier!!
ive hit 275 along the M68, just need to go down hill a bit to reach 280 :(

Flippin game, I'm having so much trouble getting sound to work.

All the cutscenes have sound, but as soon as you are actually in the game, nothing.

I thought I solved it yesterday by disabling the onboard sound, it was actually working properly for the first time after that.

And yet today, the exact same issue has reared it's head....PC gaming is so frustrating sometimes.
 
Have spent quite a long time swearing at my PC tying to stop this game crashing, some days it runs great, others i get about 10 seconds of driving and it freezes.

This weeks fix seems to be knocking a couple of graphics settings back from extreme etc and setting the Forza4 process to high priority.

Great game, shame its so buggy.

it really is super frustrating. i read a lot of people have the problem you do when i was trying to troubleshoot mine. they really need to pull their finger out and get bugs like this sorted as it's literally game breaking and really leaves the product not fit for purpose.

How many playback devices do you have enabled in the windows sound control panel?

I usually have a problem when I update drivers and it re-enables my monitor's speakers and sets them as default when it should be onboard optical out.

Hmm I think it might be the downforce that slows it down. All of the drag ones have zero downforce by the looks of how the suspension goes nuts when you launch it lol.

I'm having exactly the same problem as far as I can tell only on extreme settings, glad I'm not the only one. Someone said on the forums to turn mirrors down to ultra (I play in cockpit view) and so far I haven't had a crash today, it's early days though.

Are you on Windows 10 1809 and using Gsync too?

1803 and Gsync, I play cockpit view too so will try just adjusting the mirrors!
