FPS where you don't get upgrades

Are there any new FPS games that don't require you play them for hundreds of hours to earn new weapons? I am sick of playing recent games and starting off with a pistol and not much else when everyone else has everything and easily wins

I'm thinking on the lines of a new COD 1, COD 2, MOHAA or SOF 2. I did used to play Quake live but found it a little too fast for me.

I loved SOF 2 and MOHAA but they do look a little dated now - but there is a reason many people still play them
 
That's my problem with online shooters, The learning curve is no longer that in the old sense of the word, Nowadays you have people buying there level reather than playing it and you get out gunned unfairly, In a way it's similar to a recent card game where I've put around a hundred hours into playing it but I play a fella with just a few hours of in game time and he totally walks over me simply because he was willing to throw money at the dev's. It makes me sick.
 
Cs go (dont bother with source terrible game) still a huge learning curve to become proficient.

Cs 1.6 for the die hard (where i learnt) but not many servers anymore.

Its FTP so worth a try, dont worry about the cards anythung above bronze is skin only and even the card is very very minor.
 
would recommend Red Orcestra 2 and Rising Storm addon, its WW2 team play FPS and while there are unlocks theres only about one per class and it takes weeks to get them, I've never really had an issue someone out gunning me etc.
 
Will be watching this thread as I've just got no interest in modern FPS's where you throw in thousands of hours playing to be rewarded with tat, or get your credit card out.
I don't have thousands of hours spare so just like to have 5-6 hours per week having a bit of fun, which doesn't seem possible in most modern FPS's due to the time needed to do anything.

I've got no interest in achievements / rewards or unlocks just want to play them game on a level playing field which doesn't seem possible on many AAA titles. Insurgency is great OP, I've enjoyed what I've done in it so far and the Co-op mode is a good laugh.
 
Have also just bought Toxikk on the above recommendation and have a few hours spare now so will report back findings.
 
CS:GO or Insurgency.

If the latter, I'd love to join you on it! I've never actually played it for more than an hour in total and have no idea what to do so will be a total scrub with you.

I got access to a mumble server and play casually.

Started installing now and should be done in 10 mins :)

TOXIKK does look pretty good too but probably too many 'future weapons' for me. I like the good old rifle type games.

I have Red Orcestra 2 too (not tu tu!) so will try that again

Some of the Insurgency maps are extremely unbalanced. The player base can be extremely toxic too. It's a great game though.
