Fractal Design Define R6

I got the R5 and I don't think much to the quality of Fractals cases when I compare them to Lian Li. They feel plasticky and flex too much.
My Lian Li was only £40 more but feels like its x5 better.

I see this R6 has aluminium door now, shame it only has 1 x 5.25 bay.

what do you guys think of the fans that come with the case? I have EK-varder fans that came with my watercooling build, tempted to use them

The 3 Fans that come Pre-installed with the R6 are.....

Fractal Design Dynamic X2 GP-14

Rotational speed [RPM] 1000
Acoustical noise [dB (A)] 18.9
Maximum air flow [CFM] 68.4
3 Pin
the static pressure level of the Fan is also average, So get better for Radiators

Heres one good Fan that you might like for Radiator, High CFM Good on sound
https://www.phanteksusa.com/products/phanteks-ph-f140xp
https://www.overclockers.co.uk/phanteks-ph-f140xp-pwm-140mm-fan-black-white-fg-009-pt.html

The new redeveloped blades in PH-F140XP are angled lower to achieve higher air pressure. PH-F140XP features new
140mm mounting holes for
case/radiator fan replacement and includes a 400mm extension cable for improved cable management.

Otherwise Noctua Another fan but cost somewhat

you could try the 3 x Stock fans of the R6
the static pressure level of the Fan is average
Through the tests both of the fans provided stable and reliable airflow levels, which made me think that they are capable to work as cooling units installed on CPU heat sinks with higher fins gap compatible with 120mm or 140mm fans and keep low or middle grade processors running cool and stable at default or just a little bit overclocked frequencies. For high or extreme overclock more powerful fans will definitely be required since the static pressure level of these models is also average.

if no good then choose other 140mm

The fractal fans are ok as exhaust fans, because you do not need particularly good fans as exhaust fans, if you have 3 exhaust fans at 1000rpm that is fine, and also the fractal are nice and quiet, but for the intake fans you would want something more powerful. I put the GP14's in my old computer as exhaust fans and use bequiet pure wings 140mm 1000rpm as 3 x exhaust fans in the R6, for the front fans I have 3 x noctua A15 at 1200rpm.

open layout back view if anyones interested :p

the fractal fans that come with the case are rubbish! i have just changed the 2 front with 2 corsair ml140 twin pack which are pwm fans and connected them to the 3 pins on the fan header, 12v and full speed not very loud with the front door shut andf they are moving more air! fans are intake and i didnt connected the fan hub pwm cable to the mobo just getting power from the sata cable :)

just ordered another twin pack as the case is still quite hot, the 2 fractal design exhaust fans on the top dont do much to be honest. will be sticking the 2 ml140s as exhaust on the 3 pin fan header like the fronts.

Quick question regarding position of exhaust fans would
1, 140mm fan at rear
2, 140 or 120 fans at bottom of case work.

I will be using either a
360mm be quiet aio
Or a
360 corsair h150i pro

Would like to keep the aesthetics of the top panel.

Couple still in progress. Gone from water cooling, it was just to time consuming. And i dont mind noice... ha

Are you putting the AIO at the front? TO be honest I would definitely use the vented top panel, 1 exhaust fan is just not enough with a modern system, unless you have something like a 1060.

Another trick I have found, was to put a fractal moduvent in the top slot (the one above the HDD area), I found one lying about from my fractal R4, it is good for reducing noise and still having 2 x 140mm top exhaust fans, as that ventilation above the HDD area is a bit pointless and just lets more noise out.

Ive just had this case i cant seem to get the wall sit flush (im trying to use the alternative layout and got get the wall sit fluah with back of case can anyone help

@NirK yes im planing on using the AIO on the front.
maybe i didnt word it correctly but i was going to use 3 exhaust fans
1 at the rear and 2 on the bottom. would that work?

Not really it would mess up the airflow to the GPU, unless you plan on watercooling that as well, you would want the intakes at the front / bottom and exhaust fans at the top / back. Just put the AIO at the top and 3 intake fans.
