Free program to auto log off the internet and not allow access back on for several hours needed.

Hope someone can help me.

No i don`t have a router. I just click on connect and thats it. I am using windows xp pro.
 
i'd get a router, its far safer and you can limit the times effortlessly, you'll never need to press 'connect' again also

I need to limit my 18 yr old son off the internet. He stays up all night on msn usually upto 05.00am ! So i need to let him stay on upto 00,30 and not back on till at least 08.30.

He is 18 let him make his own mistakes!

But yes, Vista or a router would facilitate what you want.
 
I have a router and would like to know if this can be done to stop just one PC on my network from connecting to the net.

My Step Daughter stays up till God knows what time on MSN but I sometimes leave my system downloading at night.

Can this be done?

A bit of advice, NEVER tell this forum anything like that.

All that will happen now is people will roll into the thread and trash it with "You're a bad parent" rubbish, and anyone posting an actual solution will be lost under the mountain of trolling.

Also, in response to your question, i'd get a router. :)
 
one easy way take the modem to bed with you

all so you could get router like peps have said and with router you could block the ports that msn uses forget what they are now my self
 
im affraid it doesnt work, my friends parents did that as he was introduced to a world (of warcraft), he loved it so much, and his parents put time internet lock thing.
first, he got his own rooter, found out the user and pass of internet account.
It worked for a while then his parents found out.

second thing he did was get the router password, this wasnt hard as he does computing, he programed a key logger and set it on his computer and somehow made a situation where his dad had to log in to the router.

after that his dad found out that he had the password and changed it, but my friend just did the same thing again :).
 
i think its pretty acceptable to limit access at those times, why woudl anyone be on msn at 5am tho, i think he's having a masterbation marathon every night.

You can use k9 web protection to block internet at certain times.

This is a cheap/fast way you can do right now. It doesnt block msn it just disables the use of internet sites. But i highly doubt hes staying up so late just for MSN. My bet is he is on some naughty websites.

This will stop him no problem. Just make a nice long password he will never get. And when you regester it. DONT use your main ISP email because he can just request a new password, read your emails and get through it (like my brother did lol )
