I quite like HDNL. I can book in the safe knowledge that my parcel will come well after 8pm. For me that's pretty handy

Not as far as I know. Did it show DX on the payment page?

All the orders I've had through free shipping are either RM or DPD.

Ordered a hard drive on Sat 23rd and got Royal Mail 1st class 'free' delivery, a first for me, was expecting postage charges (N.Ireland).

As regards to NI, depending on the product, if it is something small then it may offer you the free shipping service. It is something we will look into in the future to expand this offer.

Just read this thread yesterday and thought how lucky i have been with deliveries over the years(not just on here) and would`nt you believe it Sods Law kicks in. Ordered some ram last Tuesday afternoon and then got phone call to go to Bristol. DPD tries to deliver Wed. and Thurs., no one at home. Got back late Monday, Tuesday went online and arranged with DPD to collect this morning. Got there, guess what, yes they sent parcel back to OCUK Tuesday morning. 54 MILE ROUND TRIP FOR NOTHING. Now most couriers do 3 strikes and out, DPD, ONLY 2. I would personaly never use this company.

Unfortunately if you were not in for the delivery date chosen, nor the day after the expected delivery date then you cannot really blame a delivery service to run around for you.

They attempted your house twice, I think it would be confusing for them to be told when to deliver, and then you have chosen not to be there to accept the delivery.

Firstly, i did`nt choose not to be at home, the nature of my job takes me away at a moments notice.
Secondly, a company that gives an option to collect, but fails to update their online service and thus causes a customer to make an unnecessary journey, is not one i would recommend or use. This was what i was annoyed with.
