Free Shipping for Loyal Forum Members

Nice work on getting subsidised shipping to members in other regions implemented :)

Now... how about my personal crusade to have DPD Next Day (and other services, such as Saturday) discounted by the value of the DX Secure option, so that we've got a choice and will still be treated to the discount you're kindly giving us?

wouldnt make much difference tbh....

ooooohhhhh, you mean discount it by what DX secure charge, rather than what its worth :p

joking aside this is great news for those that it affects. i recommend that, if you have free shipping, to order every single thing separately over the course of a few days to make it look like this is a really popular option :D

This is great, will definitely be placing more orders with ocuk now!

Thanks lads!

Edit: Doesn't seem to be working for me:

DPD Next Day Parcel £10.00
DPD Two Day Parcel - Scottish Highlands, N. Ireland, Isle of Man & Channel Isles £10.00

I entered my forum account details again and still the same :/

Any ideas?

Free shipping is for the UK Mainland customers. - We have reduced the shipping rate for Irish customers. :)

Why am I being quoted a 239 pound delivery charge?

What item and where is the order going to?

It is reduced because it never used to be the same price as next day, it used to be about £17 instead of £10. But now the price is exactly the same as UK Mainland customers so you do not pay any extra.

We do a free service for the NZ'ers already, there is an option called collect from our shop. :D

On a serious note, I like the idea of a branch in NZ though, I could do regular visits to go there for a long holiday all paid for. I mean... I could go over there and check on progress. :p

Reduced rate on our 2-day shipping option

Doesn't say anything about Next-day delivery so why should they both be the same price? Obviously if this was designed properly the 2-day option would be cheaper!

It seems the lowest shipping cost for 2-day with DPD to Northern Ireland is a whopping £7.25!?

But now the price is exactly the same as UK Mainland customers

Maybe but I'm a loyal forum member which is what this should all be about and if we are to be treated the same as UK Mainland as you say, we should be on free shipping. I can't even see any differences in shipping costs when I sign in.

I would place orders with you guys if you sorted us out, but as your product prices are already higher than everyone else I'm definitely not willing to pay even more extra for shipping.

I think you are missing the point. :)

Last week if you were in the UK Mainland you would pay for example £10 for delivery.

In Belfast, you would have had to pay £17 for delivery.

In the UK Mainland it is a Next Day service.

In Belfast it is a Two Day service.

We have reduced the costs of shipping to Belfast, so instead of £17, it is £10. So you pay the same rate as UK Mainland customers.

So everywhere in the UK and Ireland now pay £10.

UK Mainland customers still have a Next Day service.

Belfast customers still have a Two Day service.

Two Day service should not be cheaper than the Next Day service, as it uses more energy/fuel/staff/wear and tear... For example, it costs a lot more to ship to the Two Day service which is why it costed more in the first place.

However we are now charging the whole of the UK and Ireland the same price.

Does that make sense?

You are making it all sound very complex for no reason.

All that needed to be done was to give us forum members from Northern Ireland (UK) and the Republic of Ireland (Ireland) a cheap solution for shipping (Free would have been great).

You are saying that you have adjusted some DPD prices but this doesn't really cater for what we are asking for.

The cheapest shipping option for me before the offer was roughly a tenner, and now its still a tenner.

I don't care if it takes a week to ship I just want a cheap shipping option.

Surely you can sort this out?

So you are wanting a service which can take a few days? But would be cheaper? We have looked into and have tried this before. Problem is, they get lost, or damaged. Usually if it is with the carrier for 5 days, it is usually being passed around to several places which means it is more than likely to get damaged in the post or lost.

We rather our parcels to be insured, because the things we sell are expensive. We want our parcels trackable, so our customers receive the parcels when they want it. We want to provide the best service for our customers so our customers know what is happening with the order from the time it is placed.

I understand where you are coming from, but unfortunately there is no decent carrier service out there which provide cheaper takes, and delivery takes longer, that does not cause hassle for us, and for our customers.

You must be comparing special delivery with dpd - special delivery benefits from Royal Mail's universal delivery obligation but that's only cost effective for up to 2kg. For anything over 2kg (most graphics cards, a lot of motherboards and all larger orders) DPD is now far far cheaper (less than half in a lot of cases) than it was before.

I don't care if it takes a week to ship I just want a cheap shipping option.

It doesn't exist. If you ever see someone offering cheaper shipping for 5 days etc it's partly for logistical reasons (batch there warehouse into picking waves) and partly to persuade people to pay for next day etc. Most of the delivery will still be by next day courier.

Look at our competition - look how much it costs for NI, compared to that our choice of first class, special delivery and reduced cost DPD gives you the *best* offer in every price / weight bracket.

I get that you want free, who wouldn't, but being realistic you have to see that OcUK is actually being quite generous. In the future forum members might get a further reduction on NI, but these things are done for competitive reasons and if you make too many changes at once you don't know if they've been successful.

So how come you can easily give UK mainland free shipping on all orders and not Northern Ireland for example?

Surely its not that much more expensive?

How about giving free shipping to us for orders above a certain amount, or under a certain weight?

In the future forum members might get a further reduction on NI...

We aren't getting any reduction with this offer...
