Nail on head really, I've gone for the Spinpoint as I'm looking for quietness and price.

Over the years of using WD, Maxtor, Samsung and Seagate I've always found Samsung's drives to be quieter than the others and it'll probably find it's way into my HTPC so quietness is paramount.

Heck the OCZ SSD is replacing a 74GB Raptor in my main machine, so that'll help the noise a bit ;)

The other point as I mentioned in this thread is the budget was a major factor over my decision today rather than what performed better.

thankfully ocuk sent me a voucher today, i've ordered 2 * 320GB WD RE3 drives which will be here on tues:) I will do a comprehensive review of a single drive and of both in raid0 for everyone as it seems none of the review sites have yet.

hehe, sue them for being postist!

i spent £93 on 2 re3 drives from ocuk and £52 on 320gb f1 + icybox using the free delivery. I wouldn't have bought either from here if they didnt have free delivery as would have been cheaper to buy for elsewhere, i think a lot of people are in my situation so if you want my £££ you will have to have free delivery like your 2 big rivals (1 i get free delivery over £20 because i used a free delivery for life code which users who went to a computer fair got, luckily someone posted it online which i used).
