How could you possibly think I was being serious?
 
I didn't which is why I didn't reply in a serious manner, you however seem to have taken it as such for some strange reason, despite me littering it with ;) and :p just to make it that extra bit obvious.

I could understand it happening for one round but both Master Chief and Sonic?

I think it just wasn't detected for the first two and/or Gamespot couldn't be bothered with the calls for "it's a fraud!!!" if they admitteded it had happened for 3 rounds.

Well, it all boils down to a popularity and association contest - and whose to say that's not right? It's a poll to see who is the greatest hero - and isn't a hero someone whom others respect and admire for their actions (and by actions, I mean games :D). Ok, techincally a hero is slightly different by strict definition, but still....

Personally, I associate the wordless, but relentless, Mr Freeman with wonderful moments in my gaming life. Link, I associate with an over-rated, annoying, girly game on the Wii (as that's all I have played from the Zelda universe). As for Mario, he's just silly :D

While I love the HL series, I think Mario is a more well known character and will win overall.

(I voted for Freeman though ;) )
 
Come on I'm waiting for Robert to come in and tell us all that Mario is a deep character that we know oh so much backstory about and we have been relating to his deep personal flaws and nuances for years :p
