Freesat HD

freesat uses a satellite which isn't being turned off

I realise that.
Thought HD was coming once terrestrial gets turned of, on freeview?

HD freeview will be a lot cheaper I imagine than freesat due to mass production.

Getting freesat. When you will probably get it for free in a few months on freefiew.

Out of the two, freeview is the cheaper option plus you get extra channels such as E4 that you have to pay to get on freesat. However HD freeview boxes are nowhere in sight at the moment let alone freeview HD broadcasts (the idea of the analog switch off is to allow for this, more bandwidth). So if you really want free HD channels then freesat HD would be the way to go because I think it will be over a year until HD freeview.

satellite bandwidth is huge , sky has over 500 channels for instance

there isn't much room for hdtv on terrestrial (through aerial)
one hd channel takes up 4 sdtv slots or something
the switch off isn't until 2010

this is a good thing because now Sky won't have a monopoly

wimbledon, eastenders, films, match of the day, F1 all in HD with no subscription

it doesn't mention ITV HD or 5 HD either

it will take time to mature, but a lot faster than hd terrestrial, you wont see that for a couple of years

I have an unused satellite right next to my study / PC room. What would it take to get this new freesat on my PC, apart from the receiver at ~£150? I have an HD capable screen and graphics card, and a TV card with one digital and one analogue port (Compro T750).
