Unlucky for Sky people I've just seen that ITV HD is going to be a FreeSat exclusive, not available for Sky HD viewers.
Oh no, no HD Corrie!!!!

Unlucky for Sky people I've just seen that ITV HD is going to be a FreeSat exclusive, not available for Sky HD viewers.

I can’t see that happening, doesn’t Murdoch own a large number of shares in ITV?
Sky own something like 15-17% of ITV yes, but see the announcement here; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7384928.stm ITV HD is going to be freesat only.
well I suppose it’s good for the consumer having a bigger choice of HD services, I know for a fact BBCHD is poor atm, most of it is preview shows so don’t expect too much from BBCHD, would be interesting to see what ITV show in native HD not up scaled stuff. How is it? I pay £10 extra for my SkyHD sub that will be vastly superior to that of freesat.
How do you work that out? You pay £300 (or near enough) for the box, plus £10 a month, yet you'll barely get any more HD channels than freesat will have? So expensive and definitely not "vastly superior".
You can get a box for £200, you get more channels on SkyHD for the £10 sub than you would on freesat that’s of course if you have a Sky subscription package, I agree if you didn’t have Sky and wasn’t subscribing to a package then freesat is much cheaper but like me being on the full package £10 for the HD channels is very good value for money.
those defending skyHD are forgetting that the freesat HD service STARTS with the current list of channels and much like DVB-T television the channel list will grow steadily so in fact FreesatHD is a much better option compared to the SKy service.
Do you honestly believe that?
Seriously, you've already forked out extra for the hardware AND you're paying for the full package.
They really shouldn't be charging extra just for the privilege of viewing the content you've already paid for in HD.
Well yes I would love to get it for free, such as things in life nothing is, Sky are a company until HD is mainstream I’m happy to pay £10 for the pleasure of watching sports and movies in HD, many people spend more on silly film subscriptions per month I can get them in HD and watch as many as I want!
I suspect that sky will soon be dropping this charge soon anyway.
You're only paying it because they basically had a monopoly on HD content delivery and, within reason, could charge what they wanted.
A little competition in the market can only be a good thing for everyone.
More competition is always good.

I'm still unclear about this - can an old Sky box pick up the new BBC Freesat channels, for example Channel 4? Currently you need a £20 one of fee Freesat viewing card to get Channel 4.
