anyone got one?

tbh without a built in pvr as well it's not that good. I'm wondering how they are going to do recording of ITV HD, as it's a non standard channel that doesn't have an EPG atm. I've stuck a satellite card in my HTPC which works perfectly, all I'd really want from a TV nowadays is the screen, not being able to upgrade the other parts would really frustrate.

Is FTA content on Sky encrypted?

On Sky there's some FTV channels that are free, but encrypted (e.g. Channel 5 at the moment). The freesat boxes will only allow you to view the FTA channels so you'll miss out on the FTV channels. I think if you take the viewing card out of your Sky box all the channels that are left working will be the ones you can get on Freesat.

freesat isnt encrypted so no subscrip , you just have to buy a receiver box and a sky dish
What do you mean? You don't need a subscription to receive *most* of the channels you get on Freeview/Freesat with a Sky box.

The question is about the difference between Freesat and a Sky box without a subscription - the quick answer is not much. HD, Channel 4, Channel 5 are the main differences I can remember off the top of my head.

Anyone know how long before the Humax PVR HD Freesat box comes out? I'm waiting for that before I get mine I think

Ouch, so quite expensive then. I'll need two recievers then, yes?

How is the reception? Is it as hit and miss as freeview?
