Freesat HD

Will the full British Eurosport be on this, since I believe it is FTA? I say full, rather than the cut down version which is currently on freeview. Full Eurosport would make me seriously consider leaving sky. I realise Eurosport isn't in HD but I would imagine this box would also carry all the non HD free channels as well.

:) if you use a tv , you need a tv license, irrespective of what you watch
Naw... if you receive ~live broadcast (through any medium) and on any device (tv, computer, VCR etc) you need a TV license.

You can use a TV without a license and you can need a license without using a TV.

I don’t know tbh when I was 16 /17 working in a local family TV/Electrical store I was required to fill in a TV licence form whenever we sold a TV the customer had to sign it maybe it’s changed but regardless if it’s not tuned in do you still have to pay a TV licence?

I'd imagine after the initial set up costs are recovered through HD subscription costs SKY will remove it much like they did with SKY+.

Got the Humax box today, a fair bit smaller than a Sky digibox.

The GUI is pretty neat, looks professional and similar to Sky just with a different visual style, the controller feels better than the Sky remote and the only HD channel at the moment is the BBC one, all other channels are tuned in nicely. IT's connected to the Sky digital dish as it has multiple LNBs and picked up everything fine!

Will have to wait for BBC to preview the HD demo segments before knowing what it's really like but at the moment it's at 1080i upscaled for standard channels.

How can it go **** up? It's free and they haven't paid over the odds for the rights to any second rate sports. I'd also be surprised if it didn't appear on sky at some point, but not for the same reasons.

Nothing is ever 'Free' :) your always paying for it somewhere along the line. and yes in the direct sense its 'free' for us but not for ITV etc. There relying on advertising and what do they need for advertising to be effective ? customers, who currently has the largest HD customer base? sky. Why not tap this market?

If you buy a tv/freeview box/receiver, you need to give your name + postcode at the till (in my experience)
