Ouch, awful way for that match to end (although fortunate for Rafa in that the way it was going he'd be completely worn out for the final even if he had gone on to win in straight sets).
Oh FFS, thought they were both evening matches tonight 
At least he's through but another 3 hours on court, got to hope for a battle in the next semi final.

Well she's on the board but she's having to hit a lot of shots way above shoulder height thanks to Swiatek's ridiculous topspin.

Swiatek's an absolute beast on clay and was just way too strong for Gauff, she also just matched the open era record for wins in a row.

And she's just 21. She's going to be an absolute powerhouse in tennis.
And to think so many people wrote her off after winning her first title in 2020, she was only 19 too.

Hopefully there will be some competition for her. Thats what has made the mens game so compelling for so long. Rivalries are so important. The more the better.
Final's about to start, would love Nadal to win but hope it's not as one sided as people expect it to be.

First set was very competitive, as was the first 4 games of the second, but it's been one way traffic ever since. Nadal hasn't really needed to hit top gear either.

Bit of a walkover for Nadal. That’s the way it goes sometimes. We’ve seen our share of epic matches from him.
Nadal wins 11 games in a row from 3-1 down in the second set and his 22nd title.

Rafa is such a beast, I don’t get why people don’t try rapid serve him. Game is dictated by the speed of the server. So it wouldn’t be against any rules. Don’t let him get set, don’t let him faff around just right into it.
