Fritz Chess Benchmark/Super PI Thread 2010

RAM speed and timings definately have an impact on superpi.

I've just tested this as I was curious to see the difference(If any). Super Pi / Fritz

i7 [email protected] + RAM@800MHz in Dual Channel = 15.273 / 9141
i7 [email protected] + RMA@1867MHz in Tri Channel = 15179 / 9925

i7 [email protected] + RAM@2000MHz in Dual Channel = 9.696 / 15442
i7 [email protected] + RAM@2000MHz in Tri Channel = 9.688 / 15459

Strange I know, the tri channel tests are slightly higher, but thats more likely to be the slight difference you get with almost all tests.

Still would have expected better though. :(

That's some seriously quick table-fail! You let a table design defeat you in less than an hour? Come on dude, you've gotta man-up next time and not give in so easily!

Please don't take offence, I'm only joking. I just thought it was worth quoting/time-lining your no-contest submission to an instrument of viewing data. It tickled me.

Me too, Quality. :D

Btw, I'd suggest using an automated .php script to generate the table (cache it and link to a .png or something, then re-generate that every time it gets updated).

That way you could automatically sort etc, populate the lists from an SQL database or similar, and even provide a way to more easily add entries.

So something like:
  • Phenom II Quad
  • Phenom II Tri
  • Phenom II Dual
  • Athlon II Quad
  • Athlon II Dual
  • Athlon X2
  • Athlon 64
  • Other AMD

And I'd change "Older Intel" to "Other Intel", just incase someone shows up with their Atom, Celeron, or Pentium-Dual Core (which are no older than the other CPU's groups in the list, but less commonplace) :p

You need Athlon II Tri cores too

Can i use my results from here or would you like me to have another go at it :D

Results from here are fine, but seeing as we have one person (bar me) posting results already I would like to make people aware of the following:

Rules:

Unfortunately, like everything in life, there must be a few rules to abide by. This isn't to make things more awkward, it's just to simplify the collating of results, it's complex and time-consuming enough as it is. So, please, try to stick to the format below:
  • Only one entry per CPU architecture, per member. By default if you submit a faster result, your old result drops off the table to be replaced by the higher score.
  • Results must be posted with a screenshot, comprising of CPUz, SuperPi XS Mod v1.5, and Fritz Benchmark.
  • Please include your motherboard model, and your vCore with your screenshot.
  • Refrain from posting questions or comments in this thread, please use the other thread for this purpose.

You need Athlon II Tri cores too

Noted, ta :)

As far as I'm concerned, you have just volunteered yourself to set this up! That'll teach you for being so clever.

only problem i see is the top 10 table will just be i7's

Possibly, I guess it all depends on how far someone manages to push an i5/i3.

I might split the top-10's into Top-10 Fritz, and Top-10 SuperPi. That way, at least with the SuperPi it matters not how many threads you can run, but raw clockspeed. The current SuperPi World Record is held by an i5 ;)

Yeah the idea is to compare Chips

So its pointless without having say a stock i7 920 in the table as there is no way of knowing how much faster it is than say a Q6600 @ 3.8ghz

Which is interesting rather than loads of 4ghz+ 920's at the top

Hows about a board of Fastest, Middle, and Slowest of each class, all mixed into one table? Rather than the Top-10

Fastest and stock will do.

I want to look and go wow thats a good upgrade from my Q6600@ 3.8ghz as that 920 running stock is faster.

This will help people have a refernce point for upgrades etc...
