From 5820K to...?

My vcore is pretty high @ 1.325v but under a custom loop. Did you notice any difference on your X99 system with faster RAM?

A bit. I’m on custom water too. Can you remember your other settings? LLC? Spread spectrum?

3200 13,13,13,36 at 1.45v. gonna try to get that 36 down to 34. then go for 12s

Edit - got 13,13,13,34 at 1.46 volts. I went for cas 12 and only had 1 stick recognised!!!

I think that might be it for my IMC. I’d still really like to get 4.5 on the core though...

yeah 13s aren’t BFV stable. Back to C14.

Okay, you are making me want get some 3200ish RAM to replace my 2400 stuff (and for use in a potential future Zen3 build) :p
Get 4000 or 4400 the patriot viper isn't much more expensive then you can run it at 3200/3000 with faster timings with X99 and run IF at 2000 on your Zen 3, that's why I bought mine at 4000 though in retrospect I should probably have got 4400.

Ok revisiting this thread after the news of the Zen 3 CPUs. I will wait a little while longer before I bite the bullet, but what you would recommend as the ideal upgrade from an ageing 5802K? I was leaning towards the Ryzen 7 5800X.

tbh i will be doing the same on the rig with the same cpu in. just hoping stock is about and not full gouge mode is going on. if it is will just wait.

I’ll be looking out for a 5800x deal before Xmas, after Brexit proper pound could take another tumble...but then I think it might be worth waiting for new mobos too

8 core is the one I am looking at though it is a bit pricey. Got a month or so to decide if its worth the outlay given it will probably last several years :)

I bought a 3900X for less than £400 and as the new CPUs aren't that much ahead it seems like a decent upgrade from my 5820K. Better IPC, higher boost clocks and less power overall even when running all 12 cores. 8 core would still be good and even better IPC with the new CPUs.
