Hey,

I have recently built a new computer but have noticed that my front panel speaker connection does not work. I have a Coolermaster CM 690 II LITE Version case with a MSI P67A-GD65 motherboard.

It uses Realtek high defenition audio and the audio manager. The back panel will work with headphones and speakers, I just cannot get any sound out of the front panel.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks :)

Thanks for your response. I don't know if you can see this or not, but this is what I have:

The HD audio is in JAUD I believe, the other connector joined to it I have not plugged in. Should this be connected as well?

Thanks :)

I had this issue on another system, and couldnt work it out but as I was reading through my new motherboards manual, there was something regarding activating a setting in the systems volume settings that needs to be activated.

Unfortunately, I dont have the booklet to hand and cant tell you exactly what it read. But may be worth taking a look or see if anyone else has an idea.

Edit: In fact ignore me, its for when using the AC'97 connector. My bad.

that is indeed in the right place.

check the other end and make sure teh cable isn't lose on the front panel end

Also check the drivers whilst it should work anyway it doesn't hurt to get the latest drivers.

With my realtek system when I plug my headphones in it pops up and asks me what I plugged in and when i say headphones it diverts the sound.

Just tried to push in the front panel connector, seemed to be OK. Still nothing. Also I think I installed the latest driver. I went on the MSI site and installed that.

This is a real pain :(

Thanks for the responses

It'll be a BIOS setting I had the same problem in my ASUS board the bios was set to HD Front Panel but my front panel (and it looks like your one too) uses AC'97 drivers.

Check advanced settings in your BIOS it will be in there somewhere.

My CoolerMaster 690II Advanced front panel connection is working fine with the HD Audio cable connected to my Asus Xonar DX sound card, andconsidering the Coolermaster CM 690 II LITE that OP got is basically the same case with little bit less features, it should still be using the HD Audio.

Not sure what to suggest sometimes these things aren't wired correctly when made, other times it's a simple setting you've missed.

if you have an old cheap and nasty case remove the front panel and plug it in see if it works if it does then you have a duff front panel.

Also if you have your old system test the front panel of the new case on the old system that you know works.

Also when you plug anything in to the port, check the Sound manager via control panel and see if any of the devices in the list activate and set that as default.

Could always try downloading the Realtek HD audio drivers from their website (I know you said you got the ones from MSI, but doesnt hurt to try)

Thanks again :P I assume its this one?

64bits Vista, Windows7 Driver only (Executable file)

I have windows 7 64bit, they just don't seem to make it as clear as other sites.

Thats the one, comes down as a single file to double click on.

If you can get their servers to work that is.
