Frosty's 780Ti X79 Overhaul

Now these are the kind of stories that put me off Water cooling the Gpu's.

How's this old jalopy of yours getting on btw?

Yeah It's new waters for me too. No pun intended lol.

Jalopy, cheek :(. Res and few bits due tomorrow morning so going to get started on the GPU blocks and take the machine apart next week :).

Am off till Thursday.

Not the only reason, it makes an easier fill point also, and avoids the kink I was getting. It's not 'required' if that's what you're implying :D.

Was going to get cracking on doing a few more bits today as the res and temp sensor arrived, but everyone in the house hold apart from me has a stomach bug, so that puts that to bed lol :(

East Grinstead currently with the GF :). Which is on the boarders, currently I'm in West Sussex! I've lived in Surrey for most of my life though, Coulsdon / Purley :).

Happy New Year also

Sorry to say I don't know New Malden all that well!

Everyone conked out for an hour so I took that time to put in the res to make sure it'd be comfy. Thankfully had a few spare angled compression fittings and EK block angled ones to make up for the poor spacing on the ports :). Think it looks pretty at home.

No drilling required. Decided not to use the backing plate and bought some industrial strength Velcro from Homebase :).

Thanks Mark :)

Does anyone know where I can get (or if they do) the Koolance angled quick disconnect for 1/2 3/4"?

It's either rare as rocking horse **** or it doesn't exist.

lol they're eff'in clunky :).

I was tempted to scrap them on the EK bridge TBH, I may still as the run from the outlet is a bit of a mare. a 90d bend might be required.

One down, two to go :). Took me a little while as an EK Virgin getting it lined up and making sure the mofsets were properly covered, but easy install overall.

It's quite therapeutic really :D.

is it advisable plugging the sucker in dry just to check it posts (always a start)

Probably won't be bothered but tempted to

So just ran it up but the quick disconnect on the res had loosened slightly and the pumps were going for it at full chat and sounded as hey could have only been running dry. Fingers crossed I turned it off quick enough.
Typical.

Thanks :)

Today has been fairly productive, currently running passive with one 780 Ti. Did a quick run (again passive) on Heaven @ 4.7Ghz and GPU at 1.212v and temps didn't exceed 50c on the GPU and 60C on the CPU. Water temperature was 38C

couple of snaps.

I'm not sure what is up with the Sunflower PSU yet however. The fan was tripping and didn't spin till I give it a little nudge. going to keep an eye on it.

I've ordered some adjustable SLi fittings as the bridge has a huge chunk out of the front. My 4 year old decided it would be a good idea to use it as a fort when I was at work on Friday.

My 4x 840 Pros will be going somewhere, just not decided where yet.

There are a few things I don't like. The roof panel catch is a bit fiddly and only really takes a few removals to warp it slightly.

The magnetic latches on the bottom doors aren't the best either. would have preferred proper latches. Also the front cover once removed a few times doesn't stay on very firmly. So with those points in mind I can see why people would say that.

However I wouldn't let that put anyone off, it's let me manageably put 4 radiators in with plenty of space for everything else.:)

Lian Li dial ones, can't be done with the touch screen stuff. Still running passive for now with the one Ti. Enjoying the silence though must admit :)

3rd card done. Just need the fan controllers and phyoba SLi fittings.
