Latest kickstarter news says beta will be on steam as well as the final game!

I think one of the trade-offs is that to vent atmosphere it would be very difficult to do. A firebomb in the engine room,shield room and drone room of the stealth ship could be utterly devastating especially if the fire spread.

If it does turn out to be OP the beta should show that at least :p

I've been through my junk mail and I can't see the update email. Weird. Did you get it via the kickstarter mailouts or from elsewhere?
 
The email was from kickstarter. It says the beta keys will be given out by the devteam@ftl email account instead of kickstarter. Apparently kickstarter bugged out when trying to send so many mails out so that could be the issue. Receiving your beta key should be fine though :p

Ah, fair enough. I'll keep an eye out for more info then :)
 
Managed to get to sector 5 then promptly jumped into a sun, was doing until borders combined with fire utterly destroyed my ship. Sad times although i have now unlocked the engi ship :D
