Fuel up/down again

Excellent, so it might even result in higher prices for everyone.

Not necessarily, true the average price today would be higher if the market priced more steadily in relation to oil prices.
However it also true to say the average price in May this year would have been 6-8ppl cheaper instead of very healthy margins.

The worry is that by selling fuel at a loss and potentially driving out the smaller independents, would the majors and supermarkets with much reduced competition keep the fuel prices so cheap afterwards?

You're blowing this up a little. I've said it's got to a point where I've adjusted my driving habits, not that I can't afford to drive or anything.

So you're saying we should put wages up when the price of oil goes up? Watch out Christine Lagarde!

I'm saying our wages should go up with inflation, of which oil price contribututes too. At the moment my salary is going backwards as zero pay rises means its worth less each year, an effective pay cut

Having spent 2 years getting the train to work, filling my car up once every few months to a "OMG its how much now?!", the thought of going back to any sort of sizeable commute in a car genuinely scares me.

So get a new job then, the world doesn't work the way you think it does
