Fuggan's Abbey Dash Assault

If you can manage it without finance by simply saving a little instead then the Garmin 15 is available in red from the jungle for £105. ;)

And if your brothers 10 would be suitable for your needs they're available in either black or orange for £70.

Both look really good to be honest in bright colours as well.

Day 15.
Long session today! Ran for 90 minutes, pretty steady pace but still working. Managed to get just over ten miles in which I feel like is a good distance. Lower back was beginning to hurt towards the end which suggests I need to work more on my core in the gym.

Weigh in day tomorrow too so will post some results on that front too. :)

Good night!

Day 16.
Well, stepped on the scale this morning and was 78.0kg dead. That's down from 83.6kg on the 2nd September! I've been pretty strict and religious with my diet and logging everything, have been off the ale too so happy with that loss. Ideally I want to lose another 3kg before my race in 6 weeks then maintain that over the winter months. I'd be happy around 75kg I think.

As far as the running, 30 mins easy this morning was terrible. Felt ok but it was wet, cold and windy (and still dark!). Bloody winter months!

Just found a week old Forerunner 15 including the HRM for 95 quid on the bay. Not sure I'll use the HRM a great deal but seemed like too good a deal to pass up on!

Yeah I went for it, been dispatched just now too!

Day 17.
Today's sessions was different to anything I've done before.

It consisted of 45 minutes of continuous running, with ten faster paced efforts of between 1 and 3 minutes with jogging to recover inbetween. I mixed it up and ran 3x3 minute efforts, 3x2 minute efforts and 4x1 minute efforts. Tried to really push it on the one minute intervals and then just run as fast as I could for the time in the 2/3minute efforts. Was knackered at the end.

Finished off with a long ten minute stretch and 3x1 minute planks!

Training seems to be coming along nicely. Quite looking forward to seeing what time you get.

Nice one on the Garmin as well, £95 is cheap considering what you were going to give Wiggle!!!!

These sorts of efforts are worth their weight in gold during a race - good stuff

Day 18.
Well I got home from work and had a card through the door from Royal Mail. Seems they tried to deliver my Garmin today! Just 24hrs since I bought it on the bay!

I wasn't in so will have to grab it at the weekend.

Onto the running.. pretty good session out with my bro and one of his mates today. Definitely helps to have someone to train with when you're feeling a bit meh. 10x 1 minute fast efforts with a 1 minute recovery jog inbetween. Handled and done!

Day 19.
45 mins easy was today's workout but the route I'd planned only took me 35 and I really couldn't be arsed to head out again for the sake of 4 minutes each way so decided to cut it short. Regretting it now, feel like I've cheated myself lol.

Still not managed to pick up my Garmin so going to have to wait until Saturday to collect it from the post office. Annoying, should have got it delivered to work. :(

Day 20.
Rest day today. Got a timed 5k race in the morning as part of my plan so planning on going to Roundhay Park to take part in their park run at 9am in the morning.

Early night and a good feed tonight then up early tomorrow to warm up and hopefully put in a decent time. I'm thinking around the 21minute mark would be a decent time to get me round a full 10k in sub 45, so somewhere just over that tomorrow and I'll be happy. Only 3 weeks in so another 5 weeks to go.

Day 20.
Did the park run this morning, managed to get round in 21:40 by my watch. Still waiting for official time to come through.

Felt pretty good. Set off way too fast though. Average speed was 4:16/KM. Couple of ks were around 4:30 but there was a fair old hill which was tough. Right in the middle of the course too. I kept picking people off going up it, felt like a Diesel engine! Am I about on track for a sub 45 based on that time do you think? Still 5 weeks out from the race. Last k was by far the hardest IMO. Bit more attention to the long runs might be needed.

On another note, can't stop eating!

Ever seen this website or anything similar? http://www.mcmillanrunning.com/

Running calculators which give an estimated time based on a distance you enter.

Based on 21.40 it comes out with a 45:00 10k to the second.

That said it is just an estimate and best used to give you an idea. It's not to say you will do it but at the same time it's not to say you can't go much better either. ;)

Good job on the 21.40 as well, I think with five more weeks to go and the consistency your showing I think you'll come good on a fast course with a good field.

Just remember to do what you did today as well and just slowly pick people off. When it comes to the race I always try and pick someone of my ability once I've settled into my rhythm, stick with them and hopefully sprint finish past them at the end. It's not always about who's quicker usually but whoever can show they have the most guts. :D

Nice, useful little calculator that.

Yeah I think if I stick to the plan and keep going as I have been then I should make it round in under 45. It's a nice flat course the dash too so should account for a few seconds. Getting excited for it already!

Got a nice 30 minute easy recovery run later on tonight then into week 4 of training tomorrow!

On a side note, went to the post office where they said my Garmin was and they don't have it.. So I need to get in touch with Royal Mail to confirm that it has been delivered there then if they still can't produce it, going to have to file it as lost and claim from someone. Assume if Royal Mail confirm it as delivered and the Post Office can't produce it, it's them that are liable?

No idea on who would be liable to be honest. Hopefully Royal Mail make it an easy enough process though.

Wait until the few days before Race Day, you'll be even more excited. I love it. :D

If it wasn't for racing I doubt I'd bother so much!!!

Yeah I hope so, just want it sorting. Got RM looking into it as we speak so hopefully hear something back before tomorrow. I want to play with it!

Day 22.
Was only supposed to be a 30minute run again today but I had a massive feed yesterday and felt guilty so decided to up the distance and pace. Smashed out 55 minutes running at 5:11/km average pace. Tagged onto the back of a running group half way round which helped me. Didn't even feel that tired at the end as I managed to pretty much sprint the last couple hundred of meters!
