Fuji X Series

A risk worth taking i guess. Aren’t the Fujifilm cameras supposedly built like tanks. I’ve been watching a few videos and i’m half tempted to upgrade.

The risk of it malfunctioning and break on its own is low and it is only the first year. After that you pay for repair just like everyone else.

It’s a choice you got to make for yourself.

They have increasingly moved production abroad although they seem to remain a high quality well made product.

I really hope they do not cheapen the build quality in coming years, it would be a great shame.

Yeah i did read that the X100vi was made in China now.

I wouldn't worry.

The Xbox is made in China, PS5 (majority) is made in China, my OLED TV is, also as you know, almost all phones are, including the iPhone.

I have Fuji cameras made in Japan (the X100 original) and the VI, they feel the same in the hand.

As above, Fuji won’t honour the warranty in the UK. They can probably still fix it but for a price.

The reason it is cheaper is because Hong Kong has no sales tax or VAT.

Surely import duty or at least something is still included in the price?

Couldn’t care less about the warranty, I don’t think in my entire life I’ve ever had anything break in the first few years after purchase.

Any X-T3 owners here? Been seriously contemplating one of these. I’m using an a6000 at the moment, not heavily invested in the Sony system i only own the kit lens and the Sigma 35mm 1.4. I do like the idea of 4k/60 video and the SOOC JPEGS,physical dials etc.

I had one in the past, at the time of its release it was in the top 2 Fuji APS-C cameras ever released and still holds up well today.

With video it helps to have an external Mic and a gimbal

Another X-T3 owner, I use mine with 12/23/35mm primes only. Great bit of kit and great value at the moment. If you're coming from Sony AF, I'd try first and see if the AF is up to snuff though.

The 35mm f2 lens does look appealing,i like the small form factor. The Sigma 30mm 1.4 im using is quite chunky. The AF has crossed my mind most of my shots are of my 2 year old who is constantly moving. I have it set to continuous AF and shoot in burst mode. The a6000 was released in 2014 i can imagine the AF of the X-T3 must be on par as it’s about 4 years or so newer. I might be wrong there tho.

Actually after doing some reading, you're right, I always assumed Sony had god-tier AF even on earlier models. From what I can see the X-T3 AF holds up well in comparison. To be fair the AF has never been a big problem for me, but the X-T5 is supposed to be noticeably better.

Off to Japan next week, wondering if I should pop into Fujiya or Map camera and pickup some used lenses. For those that got the newer 23mm and 33mm 1.4s, was the upgrade worth it in your opinion?

Have you checked the prices there? Map camera have a website that you can check all 2nd hand stock. I found prices to be expensive in Japan, even SD cards.

Fujiya looked reasonable for used, plus you get 8% off with your passport still I think? Map prices are now listed as 'online only' and are higher in the actual store, I believe.
What are you comparing the prices against, MPB/Ebay?

LCE mostly, I mean I have been eyeing up a X-pro2 mostly.
I feel you, loved my X-Pro2, I have an X-H2 and it's not the same. LCE does not have used stock of the new 23mm and 33mm lenses, but thanks for the tip, I will research prices before deciding to pull the trigger.

Any recommendations for lesser-known camera places in Tokyo?

I marked them on Google maps. They are all in the same area.

It's getting a lot of stick, some of it a bit hysterical. I think an X-M5 with a pancake 28mm f/2.8 would be a great capability-portability combo, pocketable and powerful.
