Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (Fury Road prequel)

Whilst I'm not 100% sure the popularity of the character really "required" an origin movie being made, especially when we already know where she'll end up at the start of Fury Road which removes any threats, I'm none the less interested in seeing this, due mostly to the mad max world setting and I like the leads with Hemsworth looking particularly unhinged.

Already setting the expectation that this won't live up to Fury Road. Will obviously save any actual judgement for the release, but I don't see Anya fitting the role.

Mad Max Fury Road came out in 2015 which was the pre-woke era. Now, we're in era that is messing up Disney, Doctor Who, Indiana Jones etc, making it more like a school lesson about gender politics, pronouns etc rather than it being a sci-fi or fantasy movie. I just hope that Mad Max doesn't fall down the same pit.
Yeah because 2008 Indiana Jones was soooo good

Have never watched a movie thinking it was a school lesson.

Unfortunately very true - a lot of movies get ruined because they focus on sending some half-baked message instead of making the movies decent.

I'm hoping they do the Furiosa character justice and not focus it around some weak female empowerment plot. Charlize in Fury Road was an excellent strong female lead without any forced narrative.

Fury Road is basically the best action movie ever made so this has some tough act to follow. Trailer looks good though.

Struggling to remember a single film that was a "lesson about gender politics, pronouns etc"

Well that looks stunning if nothing else. I like how there's an element of shiny & polished given it's set close to the collapse.

I doubt it will be the non-stop roller coaster of Fury Road but I absolutely respect the decision to spin off using a new lead character, keeps it fresh, but I hope we're not just getting a female Mad Max copy.

The world Miller builds will be stunning and unique though, so I'm looking forward to it. Might watch Fury Road later, this has got me right in the mood.

And we know where she came from, so it’s the years in between.

Did either of you even understand the very basic premise of Fury Road, or were you just mesmerised by the explosions?!
