Fury X Vs Titan X - Performance compared

Titan x certainly looks smoother in most of these comparisons.

Could you add the frame latency reading as well please greg. imo it is a better reading than FPS + it gives people an idea of "smoothness", anything below 20ms is smooth where as over 20ms, you notice the micro stutter.

I could do a few fraps recording with frame times if that would help? A really good idea Nexus as well cheers bud and quite agree about frame times being very important.

Yeah that would do nicely, thanks :)

Although not sure if you need fraps for it? There should be an option in MSI afterburner to show the frame latency via OSD.

Even better if so and I wish I had looked into that before doing these vids :D I know AB well as well lol

200% scaling on these runs - cut a bit short as the only other player on the server wanted to be a hero :p Anyways, the Titan X is roughly 20% faster in this.

Also, I did a Mantle run with the same settings and you can see for yourself what happens :D

Don't you have to restart the game to enable Mantle? Not sure what's so funny about 5fps?

I did restart the game and what's funny is Mantle is supposed to be the all singing and dancing APi but I don't think it is with 5fps being shown.

Cheers Besty :)

And Nexus, The frametime overlay is working a treat..I am a noob for not even thinking about it :D

Glad to hear :) I suspect that nvidia GPU's will be a decent bit better for frame latency, at least with w7/8.1 and current AMD drivers anyway.

I would be interested in seeing what the frame latency of batman AK is with the 30 fps lock and vsync on as supposedly that feels very smooth for some people.

As for mantle, 3 things you have to remember:

- iirc, mantle optimisation is pretty poor with the fury, which would kind of make sense given the new tech.
- more of a benefit to older CPU's with high end GPUs
- it can help with the FPS increase but the main thing it really improves is the frame latency/smoothness

Unfortunately, MSI afterburner and fraps don't work with mantle :(

If they do optimise it for Fury, I will revisit it but frames and frametimes are decent for me anyways and as I am old, it wouldn't make a scrap of difference to my gameplay if they were 0.01ms times :D

Sorry to repost this, but wrote to wrong thread previously. Gregster could you do some reruns in most cpu bound games like Grid Autosport with new 15.7 WHQL driver. Has improved overhead compared to 15.15 drivers you were using before, and should prove to be quite much faster in that kind of situations. They are from newer 200 driver-branch.

As I said in the other thread, I will be more than happy to do some reruns :) These look like nice improvements from the spec list.

Not really much point in re running all the tests just yet. The release notes for those drivers say nothing about performance enhancements for fury based cards.

I will have a look and see if anything has improved. I will be disappointed if not :(

You could fire up firestrike quick to get an idea.

edit; I ran it with my 7970 and got 315 points more on default settings. Yay!

Ouch. a guy on guru 3d went from 750k draw calls on 15.15 drivers to over a million on the new 15.7 drivers.

He was using a fury x by the way.
