Future-proofing your GPU.

The 3080 I bought over 3 years ago still can't be beat with any of the new stuff for £649 or less so I'd consider that a futureproofed purchase, can't imagine we'll be saying the same about any of the current gen stuff from AMD or Nvidia in 3 years time.

I picked up a brand new 4070 Ti for £575 (after cashback) and after selling my 3080 Ti it worked out £95 for the upgrade.

After trying DLSS 3 I can say it has been well worth it. It is a lot better than I expected. Fake frames FTW I say

Apart from that I get a card that is new with 3 years warranty. At least 10% faster. It consumes around 100W less and generates less noise.

Did not think I would bother with ada due to the silly pricing but for a small fee to get all the above I could not pass up. Certainly better than paying for Geforce Now to get access to DLSS 3 @Nexus18 :p

Will enjoy it until the 5070 is out and will likely grab that :D

You mean to say you "upgraded" but still have the same 12gb vram, oh dear oh dear...... :D

Was that the horrible 2 fan ventus model that had the pricing error the other day?

Yep. That one. You say horrible, but I would rather that than the best 3 fan monster 3080 Ti out there. Runs cool and quiet and I have yet to undervolt it which I will.

Most importantly tna though, you have got essentially 3090ti perf and more for a considerable chunk cheaper as we always stated before ;) The smart way to do this GPU game :p iirc, wasn't there an easy rider shuffle or something for this? :D

Indeed. Don't even see the issue. I have still yet to run out and there are no games on my radar the next 12 months or so that makes me think I will.

I will likely be upgrading to a 5070 or something like that anyway and those will have 16gb minimum. Non issue, for me anyway.

Exactly. Been saying it for years. But people kept banging on about vram and how important that it was and it was worth paying £750 or whatever it was over the 3080 for it.

Here I am with roughly 3090 Ti performance with a card that runs much more efficiently and can do fake frames. Oh and yes, DLSS 3 from the few games I tried it on so far has been so much better than I expected. 3090 can't do it and is missing out. I would rather DLSS 3 than 24GB vram right now and I mean that.

I saw that one but decided against it as I never really liked the ventus 3080 model and being only 13% faster than a 3080 going by the most recent HW unboxed review it was barely worth it.

Great deal, but who's reminding him it's only got 192bit?:p

Well aware. End result is all that matters. Plus I will only upgrade next gen again anyway :D

Lol. It is more than that. I am seeing 10% better than my 3080 Ti.

Also no point looking at 4K native results where the card performs it's worst, unless that is how you primarily game? I always use DLSS when available. So even if I am using DLDSR to up my res to 5160x2160 it still ends up at 3440x1440 after DLSS Quality is applied.

Regardless. £95 got me a brand spanking new card with 3 years warranty. DLSS 3 which so far seems very good. Much better efficiency and a card that is less noisy.

What's not to like? You saying it's a bad move? :D

I’m just saying that coming from a 3080 I wouldn’t have bothered, for me it would have been £175 for a 13% gain which coupled with having to sell the old card wasn’t worth the hassle.

Still sticking to the 13% argument without addressing what I said I see. Nice.

Your not even acknowleding DLSS 3 as something worthwhile.

Here is something more realistic imo.

That is a 21.18% increase by the way and the gap is bigger at lower resolutions. I mean if you are using 1440p with DLSS Quality you are essentially using 1080P where the gap is even wider :D

Oh and let's not mention the extra vram
