FX60 has sneaked in, look at the lovely price.....

AFAIK single core is a dead-end for AMD chips now. There will be a new single core processor with AM2, but it'll only be an updated San Diago - all new cores will be designed for dual applications.

you cant put a price on getting 3 programs working at once the pure effort it saves :P like saying why buy a car when u can push bike
if u dont want speed u might as well get a zxspectrum

Really just a showing off product! Because things arent really CPU limited at the minute, surely it would be more sensible to invest in a couple os 7800GTX's in SLI. But I guess if you can afford that, then you can afford the FX60 aswell! :)
 
if u dont do multiple things it probably isnt worth it(ie if u just play games)
if you do pretty much anything else it is,
if i had th £ i would go for it

true about the 7800`s being cpu ltd

you dont need to upgrade full stop mate, it isnt worth it at all with a spec like that. :)

i have an even better idea buy an fx60 and watch it overclock to 3ghz stock cooling and vcore, and watch it obliterate the x2 in every possible factor (including price), also take into account the fact the most buyers of this can afford phase change and arn't dumb so expect more than 3ghz

seriously guys, why say "omg thats too much", its the BEST of the best, there is nothing better, it overclocks like god and has enough power to put chuck norris' kicks to shame and is bought buy people who can afford it.

that aside, i think its time for me to stop being scrouge and be free of my old skool p4 rig for one of these and 7900gtx in sli.
 
I'm definately not getting one of these.... too expensive.

But come to think of it, there's all that more power and it costs much less than say prices were only 6 years ago.

I'd wait for the AM2 motherboard and cpus coming this year rather than buy this.

Lets be real now, who's got mega bucks to spend over £800 quid on a processor ??? Oh I forget MR Scrouge and his P4, Really *** r u thinking!!! Intel is Dead.....

Too expensive unless you have a lot of cooling to make any use of it or are going for a WR... i just built an entire gaming rig with a 17inch TFT, saitek eclipse and MX510 (so not cheap accesories) for less :p

Would like to see what they can do with em over at XS though
