Yup, much appreciated :)

Just made my first espresso with it, and for the first time hand-ground the beans for coffee. Did them a bit too fine but the results were still awesome. God I've missed having good coffee.

Good job! Which beans and grinder did you go for?

These beans: http://www.hasbean.co.uk/collections/america/products/brazil-fazenda-rodomunho-pulped-natural

And this grinder: http://www.hasbean.co.uk/collections/grinders/products/porlex-ceramic-burr-coffee-grinder

I've had the beans before and really like them. The hand grinder is new to me but doesn't seem as hard work as people suggested :)

Not that much of a fan of 'natural' coffees; tend to smell a bit odd but I've not tried them in espresso before.

Good choice on Hasbean and the grinder :) I found my hand grinder OK to start with until visitors started regularly asking me for coffee. Just the thought of grinding 120g of beans by hand made me weep!! I guess I'm just a lazy sod though :p

Great that you've already got your Classic up and running and enjoying decent coffee :)

Ah, I want to upgrade to a shiny Rancilio but budget constraints are a bit of an issue at the moment :p I doubt I'd be happy to grind for loads of visitors either to be honest.

I quite like those beans as they're fairly smooth and chocolatey. I tend to prefer that kind of flavour to my coffee compared to the more sharp or bitter ones.

My coffee machine arrived and I bought some pre-ground espresso coffee.

I followed the instructions but about half the coffee is not going in to the cup as it's being ejected too far side ways and is ending up on the table!

What am I doing wrong?

is the portafilter tight enough? make sure your tamping with enough pressure as well

Btw the classic comes with a pressurised basket now for "perfect crema" when using crap coffee pods so you might need to use the filter pin http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gaggia-Coff...r_1_3?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1354901691&sr=1-3 if your not already

Most people by the original basket because its much better for using proper coffee and not the pods http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gaggia-Stai...r_1_6?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1354901691&sr=1-6

LOL, there was a little plastic bit that sits under the filter, was only mentioned on a supplement instruction sheet as they now ship with Crema Perfetta filters as standard.

Drinking a nice coffee, will need to get some beans and a grinder now that I know how to work the machine.

so was the plastic bit causing it or the cure?

I dont understand why they even ship with the pressurised baskets , people who buy gaggias surely dont buy them to use cheap coffee/pods ?

Pretty sure it must have caused it. I vaguely remember removing some dodgy bit of plastic when I set mine up the other day.

Just made another coffee with my hasbean beans and porlex grinder. Sooo good :)
