Game closing stores NOW.

Out of two game stores and one game station we have one game store left. I can honistly say I haven't been in for a good 3 years and the last game I bought was Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix back in 2002.

Surprised by the Bristol choice of closure. It's seems to be the better of the 3 locations within a 5 minute walk. I can only guess it was the most expensive rent. The closer in Weston Super Mare makes sense, as the other store is only 2 doors down.

You're correct, spoke to my mate who works in the broadmead store, and apparently they're leaving it up because the rent is so cheap it turns a profit quite easily.

The one in Bolton is closing. Nipped in today but nothing seemed to be any cheaper than it has been for the last couple of weeks. They have a Logitech Force Gt steering wheel in there that I wouldn't mind, currrently knocked down from £120 to £70. Might see if it drops any further before weekend.

The Gamestation seemed to have already closed, front window had everything cleared out from it, just bare shelves on show. That just leaves HMV and supermarkets in Bolton for games.

Looks like both Hanley and Newcastle Gamestations are staying open, or at least they're not on that list. Strange, I wonder if they really did have a burst pipe this morning.

All Game's and Gamestation's gone from Norwich centre.

Isn't there one still opposite the (old) Mall; 'back of the inns' isn't it?

I'd read it as a closure of the old-EB (great store in it's day; 'pre-GAME') store on St. Stephen's street and the GS in the Mall (where Virgin used to be).

Key question.

What is happening to all their stock? Has there been any stories of great deals or are the sales to come?

Judging from what I've read tonight from ex-employees on MCVUK etc. they are re-allocating all stocks to the remaining stores.

I can't see any stores remaining open much longer. I rekkon somewhere like Amazon offered a hunk of cash for the lot.

Why would Amazon want to buy a struggling retail chain when they sell over the internet?

They've closed a local concession I didn't even know existed in Comet. The other two (next to each other) are still trading.

In Wigan they are closing the Gamestation and leaving the Game open, There is a Gamestation near my work in Leigh that looks to be staying open, not too bad around here, It was pretty stupid having 2 on the same street

My local Game shop at westfield stratford seems to be open still. dont know why, last month I went to the shop to look for some wii games and came across some pretty rude staff members.

Doubful right now. The Administrator will want to find a buyer fairly swiftly for the UK business. The move today makes sense, clear out of duplicate or under-performing stores in most UK town/city centres. Getting out of lengthly rent leases and getting rid of staff on the cheap (horrible way to term it I know and I do sympathise) via statutory redundancy.

My local one at Edinburgh Ocean Terminal closed, glad my other half had her last shift there at the weekend and has moved onto a new job.
Edinburgh Princes Street also closed but still leaves 4 stores in the city.

Quite surprised that neither of the Livingston stores have been closed (1 Game and 1 Gamestation) also seems to be Gamestations that are remaining open up here rather than GAME Store.

Surprised me a little too but they are pretty busy and at least they only have 1 Game store in Livingston. Not that long ago they had two within 50 metres of each other!

It's been badly run into the ground, should have done what comet, currys and pc world did a long time ago. Running costs and over heads for three stores in 5min walking distance, when their entire range is cheaper online, was always going to end in tears. should have focused on fewer shops in malls.

I meant the stock, not the stores.

Good to see at least for the moment the gamestation in Reading is still open.

The game was never as good but the tiny little gamestation shop was always bustling with life

Edinburgh is closing, or already, has might pop along to see if i can pick some free stuff up. I dont own a console, maybe they have some leftover PC games. Can pick my brother up some stuff though perhaps.
