I spent 45 mins in there today and no there wasn't a queue. Basically I took up that trade in your elite for a £99 250gb slim and one game. The special guy behind the till couldn't find the deal, then they did but the till didn't take it or something. In the end they did it but I had to buy it with Forza and then exchange that with FIFA in another transaction, it didn't cost but WTF. However on the website forza isn't even part of the deal.
Also because I didn't have the original component cable, but the HDMI one they had to take it out of the new one, or they wouldn't take my elite, does it really matter for FFS.

then the guy turned round and said that will be £52 please, I was like err yeah ok paid and ran, should have been £99

They have had some quite good prices on new games in the sale (but for some strange reason the pre-owned version is more expensive on some its double the price:confused:).

Its a shame they cant have the same price instore as they do online - maybe £5 more instore but some games are £10+ more.

But - pricewise they are now priced much better than HMV - i went into HMV today to have alook and i nearly fainted at some of the prices they have - no wonder they are in trouble)

The most prominent thing in my local HMV is the display for those Dr Dre headphones.

I reckon they are getting desperate selling crud like that !

Thank christ for this.

GAME and Gamestation have ruined the experience of purchasing games for me.

In a nearby town there was a small shop that sold any game that you requested, and you could also talk to the guy behind the counter about said games.

Do such shops still exist?

Those were the good old days lol. There used to be one near my college. Owner allowed people to demo games and often sold games before their street release date.

My local game is still trying to sell Black Ops for £45 new lol !!

Yep standard procedure with them and Gamestation (some company for those who dont already know). They done the same with the previous MW games. Makes no sense at all.... Its almost as if theyre completely unaware of all the deals available to consumers online!

near the same price?

i checked some prices when i went in on boxing day and yes some of the games where double the price they are online on other retailers.

they are on average £15-20 more expensive than the cheapest online retailer.

i suggest you install "invisible hand" and use amazon more often.

I did say you can often get games at near the same price, not all games, all of the time!

Like I said, I picked up a new & sealed Resistance 3 for over £8 cheaper than I could find on any of the main online retailers.

I found it pretty shocking that both my local Game and Gamestation stores were charging £51.99 for a DualShock 3 pad when I went in to get one over the weekend... not a chance I was going to pay that much for a control pad.

they are very expensive and it wouldn't supprise me if they folded, but the queues in the chelmsford branches were huge over christmas. i would say that most people had 2nd user games in there hands from what i saw.

their pre-owned is also over priced to.

I used to buy from them a lot. Then i saw the light and just started saving money online. Only go in there now for the occasional preowned bargain, but even these are rare. As already stated, there is little benefit for shopping with them.
