US: Game of Thrones Season 3 (contains spoilers)

So did Selmy wrench himself free of Mormont? Did the old man floor him? Is that why Mormont looked unhappy in the end scene? ;)

So far, Mormant has been Dany's only "Westerosi ally", and has been her closest adviser. The appearance of Selmy threatens this staus-quo somewhat, so it's natural for Mormant to be a little uneasy.

Why diesnt selmy have his staff instead of the dagger? Wheres his fat friend with all those scars on his chest? Why a girl instead of a faceless man to try and kill her? Why derive from things that are pointless to change. Martin was right in an interview when he said its frustrating when producers and production try and change things and try to ive it over as though its 'better'.

By selmys friend not being there, it will alter something that happens later on in the skaber bay cities

That whole scene was a mess imo, and I was disappointed not to see Strong Belwas, but he can easily be introduced later...he doesn't actually do anything until he kills the Yunki champion.

I am imagining a Strong Belwas/Greyworm merger tbh...or one of the other unsullied.

I hope not, they're very different characters.

Hopefully Belwas does get introduced soon.

I can see why he would be cut. I love Belwas, but there is little point in having him in it tbh....the Arstan Whitebeard part has been completely dropped, so there is no need for him at all in Astapor, and the only other thing he does is beat the Yunkish champion, which Greyworm could easily do(he has been cast btw)..Greyworm is hardly a strong character, so they could just make him a bit more like Belwas and have him do the things that he does from now on. I doubt we will se Strong Belwas at all.

It isn't perfect, but they can't show every character.

After watching episode one, I can see why people wait till it's all over to watch
yea to many stories spread across the episodes you can go 2-3 episodes before seeing danearys again for example.

It must be a much better experience to watch the full season in one go but I'm not patient enough.

Anyone know how soon after the episode Sky uploads it to Anytime? I'm playing football on Monday night, and my flatmate's not into it so I imagine will watch the Manchester derby. I can't record it as I've only got one feed into the flat. Boo :(

How do you know the girl wasn't a faceless man?

Anyone know if there's been any mention of when they'll release this season's Bluray? After both the first and second seasons ended the first thing i wanted to do was rewatch from start to finish but the 1 year delay for Bluray when other shows do it within a month or few always pees me off.

I know it's early days but that time will be here again in a mere 10 weeks.

Quick DVD release means less reason to purchase an HBO subscription, so i doubt it will be any quicker than the previous two seasons.

Just watched episode 2 as I am going away tonight so won't have a chance to watch the next few eps.

4/10.
Another poor episode, with Mance and Cat in particular poorly handled. Thoros was also meh. The direction seems to have really gone down hill as well

EDIT-oh and the Reeds:o

Queen of Thorns, Sansa and The Hound were good though....Anguy Awesome

Thing is, they have sooo much to fit in, why are they putting so much made up stuff in it?

The Reeds appear really strong and independent in the books, but they seemed weak and uninteresting in the show. Queen of Thorns was well acted though.

I watched season 1 and 2 and thought it was the best series to grace tv in a long long time (ignoring the other greats such as breaking bad), in between season 2 and 3, i read books 1, 2, and 3. Book 3 was sensationally good, season 3 now feels incredibly weak. Perhaps it is just weak and they are trying to cram too much into it, or perhaps I've just turned into one of those book snobs that say nothing ever beats the book version. I don't know, perhaps it will just take a couple of eps to get into the swing of it.

While i'm here, with regards to Theon, am I getting spoilers from the 4th/5th book? I was concerned they would take elements from future books to gloss over long periods where no character is mentioned, it seems like this might be happening?

I'm working my way through book 4 but I've not had a Theon chapter yet, I may have to pick up the pace a bit.

Yep. Theon does not appear until book 5...all of what we will see in this season, is told retrospectively . it is going to take something away from what are probably the most powerful chapters of the whole series really
