US: Game of Thrones Season 3 (contains spoilers)

Cracking job on ruining parts of the story which haven't been unfolded yet.

This is a 'US TV SHOWS Discussion' forum, not a bloody book club.

You know that there is a separate thread for non-spoiler 'watchalong' discussion?

A lot of the individual character stories seem do to be disconnected at first glance, but they all have an important part to play in the overall story. That's really the nature of an epic... Everything is connected and intertwined, even if the connection isn't immediately obvious. This is a highly complex story that plays out over many years, and each of the pieces on the board is important in its own way.

It's in the TV shows section, not the books section, I came in here very tentatively for this very reason, and will now leave again because it's not worth the risk.

Thread should be marked with "contains book spoilers" or something.

But it does make sense that people who have read the books will want to discuss the TV show in that context. With multiple threads we can accommodate everybody's needs, and there is no excuse from dropping book spoilers where they are not wanted.

I've only read up to the third book, so I also have to be careful in this thread. Unfortunately people seem to be mostly ignoring the other thread, with most of the discussion in here instead.

Indeed, hence the suggestion that "book spoilers" should be in the title. This was the first thread I saw, I didn't notice the other one until you mentioned it.

Well that was a different episode, much more light-hearted than usual apart from the end scene... then the credit's music came in :D

Maybe it's just because I've only read the first book. But I have no problem with this season so far.

I'm actually enjoying reading the books after watching the show, it fills in some of the blanks and adds explanation. Where normally if I read the book first and then find the Film/TV show doesn't live up to the book. It's definitely refreshing.

Not happy with the latest episode. Yet again they've just been stupid and changed something for no reason.

Theon was severely tortured for weeks/over a month in the book and when he escaped it was in Winter. He was also a completely broken man with severe mental issues and none of that was portrayed.

I wish they'd slow down and do things properly. They are murdering the novels and it's completely ******* me off

Meh, a bit better than last weeks, but far too much padding, and some bits I really didn't like(Stannis:rolleyes:, Edmure being weaselly, Blackfish is a bit odd, Pod, the Hotpie scene...excruciating:o). The Theon stuff is quite interesting though, and I don't really have a problem with it tbh.

Overall, I have been very disappointed with this season so far though....fat too many useless scenes, and not much going on. Also, I can't believe how badly directed it seems.....background music sounding off, lines being delivered strangely, characters not being introduced etc....it just seems odd to me, and is a big area where it is lacking.

I think that what happened to Theon in this episode is him meeting a character that he should have met it series 2 but didn't, and in quite a different way. I may be wrong, but I hope I'm not.

That is exactly what has happened... The line from the guy just before you-know-who killed him, something like "you little *******" was quite good.

This video is interesting- Probably best for people who have read book 3, though it doesn't actually spoil anything, it just presents a theory, with evidence, about what might happen in this series. All of the footage is from series 1 and 2.
Personally I don't believe it at all, but it is a nice theory.
