US: Game of Thrones Season 3 (watch-a-long thread {no spoilers})

You just don't get it.

Considering I've spent all year studying adaptation theory, will be my specialised area (probably with fantasy adaptation/fiction too) for my PhD, I disagree.

I think that it is you that does not get it.

The television show is a separate entity and an adaptation of the book, the fidelity theory (which is the theory you are unaware you are subscribed to) is the first, most basic, common theory and easiest to dismantle.

You're unwillingness to open in to any meaningful debate, weather for lack of understanding, stubbornness or obtuseness is boring as is your entire 'argument'.

Ignorance is bliss and you bore me :), my advice would be to stop watching Game of Thrones.

Worse than the TV series we do have?

A carbon-copy adaptation of the books to television wouldn't be great - I thought we were on the same page with that tbh.

A carbon-copy (or fidelity theory adaptation) would not work. Books and films are fundamentally different mediums, they cannot do things equally.

What George Hincapie is suggesting (or deucedly wanting) is an adaptation within the boundaries of the fidelity theory, that is a highly flawed (not to mention ridiculous) way to view adaptations.

There will always be changes, the nature of adaptation (for the most part).

Good luck in the real World. You'll need it.

the red woman manipulated stannis and his family.
The lord of light gladly accepted her offerings of a king , queen and kings daughter

It was probably her intention to get them killed the whole time LOL
