lol :D

you may just have the face facts that there may never be a next installment.

And there's **** all you can do about it.

Protesting like this is daft.

Yes there isn't a lot that any one can do, if they decide not to make any more in the series.

But if by protesting, it may crates a lot of interest, but what else can you do, to change some ones mind?

Hmm im sure i heard rumors that hl3 was gona be shown at e3 this year. Should just wait till then then if nothing shows then do the event thing there saying.

Besides, its just hl3, didnt even finish hl2 and 1 was boring, not tried ep 1 or 2 due to lack of wanting to play after stopping half way through hl2.

My PC gaming/hobby/ began with Halflife on m AMD K6=2 "when ever/how long ago that was" and whilst I feel Gordon Freeman is a member of my extended family im really not too bothered any more if he calls or sends a Christmas card.

Goodness gracious why the negativity people? Half life is certainly not overrated it played a huge role in industry. It is not a protest (unless it says so in the article) it's just a gathering of fans that want to be heard.

From what I know and this information may be a year old, valve is and has not been developing a new engine, they made a clear point that they will improve source and not make a new one. So if half life 3 comes out it will *not* be on a new engine, it will be improved source. There has been absolutely no announecements of half life 3, so far as official word goes half life 3 project does not exist, there are no current plans for this game.

They're working on DOTA2 currently so I doubt they put some people to work on half life 3 right now...maybe just story...like an outline, generally.

.

Because it is very very sad. These people need to find better things to do.

Need to find better things to do? You are commenting on a hardware forum about a game at 1:10am, nothing constructive, just the general "my hobby is more important than your hobby" lines, really, I mean really, can you not see how hypocritical this whole situation is?

Everyone playing HL2 at the same time will cause an abnormal peak in activity on the stats for that game: http://store.steampowered.com/stats/ This is what will get Valve's attention, if the media attention for this little stunt doesn't.

Some people in this thread seem to be doubting Half Life's popularity. I find this strange, seeing as both Half Life, and it's sequel, are two of the biggest-selling games of all time.

This little protest looks fun, I'd join in if I didn't have something else to do on Saturday.

:p ...Oh, what the hell, I'll simply let it run for a few hours while I'm doing other stuff.

Just let them get on with it and develop the frikkin game. We all know they take ages and we all know they create something amazing every time.

Stop throwing toys out of the pram because a product that is a luxury, not a right, isn't being paraded around in the fashion they wish.

Unlikely most of these 'community action' type projects, I don't view this as throwing toys out of the pram at all. When I read about it I thought it was actually quite a good idea because it is a non-invasive, moderately innovative 'protest' that just illustrates interest in the franchise, rather than just another mundane online petition in badly-written English.

(FWIW I've always been in the "I'll wait until it's ready" camp, as I'm content with the massive backcatalogue of PC games anyway)

It might get there attention. But it won't achieve anything.

This is how Valve operate, they won't show anything until it's near complete. And as Half-Life is their flag ship title, I doubt anything short of perfection will be good enough for them.

I have complete faith that because of their "when it's done" attitude (that so many more developers should follow), when it finally does come out it'll be an excellent title, well in line with their exceptional high standard.

I don't know how pestering them and bugging them for information is going to make it come quicker.

I don't see why this would get Valves attention... I imagine they are well aware that people want info on Half Life 3.

You have a £200 graphics card made specifically for gaming. These people are literally doing nothing but opening up a video game and playing it. You're the biggest hyprocite I've ever seen.

What on earth has my GPU got to do with these sad people. I take it you are one of them?

With the new CS:S looks wise I have some faith that Valve will try to push forward some really nice visuals for the next episode of HL. It's kind of annoying that they're all hush hush when people just want to know it exists, but oh well.

The stunt isn’t to get Valve to release the game quicker, its to get Valve to acknowledge to the loyal Half Life fans that ep3 or HL3 is actually being worked on.

I can see how this ‘could’ get Valves attention, the media reports will spread this all over the internet and the stats for HL2 will go through the roof.

I have HL2 installed, along with perhaps nearly anyone who actively plays PC games or has Steam installed lol so if I’ve got chance I’ll fire it up. Half Life is a very good game, it would be an instant best seller if Half Life 3 was to come out.
