No not at all, what I'm saying is, all this digital sit in stuff is just to boost awareness of HL3, e.g. Valve don't have to spend as much on advertising

I don't think we'll see Half Life 3 until the next gen consoles are out. Source is a massive engine and they'll want the new one to be the best graphically. At the moment they are up against some very tough competition. They'll probably want a head start for next gen.

So what's that, 2014/15?

it's a bit of fun as far as I'm concerned. I love HL, played both the first and second many times, might even fire up the first one again on steam on Saturday. In my opinion, HL3 will definitely get made eventually - it will make loads of money, simple as that. I expect a response from Valve after Saturday, they would be fools not to. Not a response that tells us HL3 is being made, or will be made, but just a response to acknowledge the fans enthusiasm - and I'm sure the vast majority will be happy with that. My personal opinion is that they want to make the game when hardware has evolved to a certain level - what that level is only they know. They naturally don't want to get peoples enthusiasm up prematurely, and after the hacking incident with HL2 I'm sure they run a very tight ship, but I believe it's ticking over in the background waiting for the right time to go into full production.

This is just my opinion and I hope not be flamed like others in this thread for simply being a big fan of something.

You're absolutely right. It's nothing more than HL2 fans playing HL2. If Valve see this and decide to release any sort of info about HL3 then that's just a bonus.

Devkits for the next xbox360 were given out to developers a little while back, i would be surprised if PS4 devkits weren't in a similar situation. I wouldn't be surprised if Valve were already tinkering under the hood to see what they can do with 'Source 2' in the next gen of consoles.
