Gamers, What's Your Audio Set Up?

Doesn't have line out or digital out.

So you'd have to get an amp that has enough inputs for your devices, ie analogue, digital, coaxial, optical, hdmi, etc etc.

£70 isn't a lot.

What are all your sources?

Still running a PC38x with a Sound Blaster G6.

Have been tempted to upgrade to something else but nothing out there entices me enough to part ways with the PC38x.

Will probably hold until they announce its succesor.

Using my AVR is handy, it has levels/distance, DAC, multi channel decoding/downmixing, ability to high pass the speakers, use a subwoofer (lacks subwoofer EQ though) HDMI, coaxial and digital inputs, room EQ for the speakers, 7.1 max speaker config.

Ok, so received my Schiit Gunnr today. Some initial disappointment ; I was under the impression it was meant to come with several accessories including a 6.35mm jack adapter and headphone/mic splitter cable - mine had neither. The latter wasn't a huge issue for me as I don't use a gaming headset with incorporated mic, instead I use Beyerdynamic headphones and a separate ModMic Uni 2. But I did have to search out a 6.35mm jack from my dusty cupboards of stowed boxes.

The actual build quality is good ; it's a small device that sits unobtrusively on my desktop. Switches are robust and snap into position with a satisfying and tactile "click". Early days, but sound quality is excellent and I like the "width" and "presence" controls for adjusting the sound stage.

Final comment : with high impedance headphones, I'm glad the unit comes with a AC power adapator for extra gain - I didn't find just using the USB connection to be sufficiently powerful for driving my headphones - they are 80 and 250 Ohms ( mic was ok, but has much lower impedance ). With the AC power adaptor in play, I find medium gain setting to be the sweet spot for gaming.

I have just watched a bunch of videos on the new Aiyima A80, a rather nice looking desktop speakers amp with some really cool features for £180:

The ability to swap out the OpAmps is excellent and I am on the edge of ordering one with a pair of OPA828s and then selling my Topping MX3S which should fetch not too much less than the A80. I remember having soundcards back in the day with swappable OpAmps and really liking the Burr Brown modules back then, nice to have custom audio back on the table that doesn't cost megabucks and the graphic EQ display is also something I missed from my hifi days in the late 90s hah and of course WinAMP in the early 2000s.

6.64% cashback via QuidCo too!

Edit*
Ordered

Anyone want to buy a Topping MX3S? :p
