Games you Bought and played Once

Crysis
Crysis Warhead
Arma 2
Arma 2: Arrowhead
Borderlands
Far Cry 2
Homefront
Just Cause 2
Wings of Prey

Infact most games i play i'll give a couple of hours and then never return, really is a waste of money.

Only a few games have seen 40-50hrs and most of them are because they have a good online.

Not sure if it's the games or me not into gaming as much as i thought but even still i keep spending.

I think a big problem is how spoilt we are by Steam... it's so easy to throw money at the bargains but then never have the time to play them or put any effort in to giving them a fighting chance.

I think we're far more likely to persevere with games we spend more money on/buy on release

Very true on all points made. Thing is though is you compare how many games we have access to per console and the amount of gamers that own more than 1 gaming format (like myself with a gaming PC + PS3 for example), we have vastly more games to choose from in the first place, so can be very subjective and critical over what we actually spend time playing. I think its good for the industry as it really forces companies to step up and produce quality games otherwise they flop horribly, destroying the credibility of the game studio.

That never use to happen years and years ago though as we where all content with no saves at all, having to restart the game from the beginning every time we sat down to play and having to sit there for many hours to try and complete a game properly. I prefer the current system though, giving us the choice and platforms like steam driving the prices of games through the floor with bargains and sales often.

Shed loads of games.

Notable games that I have done this with recently (As in since christmas):

Arma 2
Dead Space
Crysis
Crysis 2
Darksiders
Flatout
Hitman
Half Life Source
Split Second
Red Faction Guerrila
Overlord
Titan Quest
Tomb Raider Underworld
Victoria II
Shift 2 Unleashed
Dragon Age
Mass effect 2

Its partially just a time issue. I bought a lot of games last year, culminating in the steam Christmas sale. Many of these games I have never played, some I fired up once to have a look and just haven't returned to.

I am trying to make an effort of sticking to one game and finishing it. Games I have completed this year:

Bioshock
Dawn of War II
Torchlight
Mafia II
Battlefield Bad Company 2
Empire Total war (1 campaign)
Alpha Protocol
Lara Croft Guardian of Light
The Witcher
Swords & Soldiers HD (Viking campaign)
Football Manager (you can never complete it as such, but I have played a few seasons and won the treble with West Ham!)

Darksiders if worthy of a second punt if you get the spare time to have another go. Fantastic game and completely took me by surprise when I played it.

yeah I enjoyed it, but the little bit of spare time I have is spent playing other games at the moment. I am 3/4 through Assassins Creed 2 and about 1/4 of the way through a replay of Deus Ex.

Started to go this way myself a few years ago, a lot of games lost thier appeal or never lived up to promise, so now apart from a few major online games which i'll still buy straight off and play 100s of hours on, BF series as an example. I 've gone the online "try before I buy" route.

Works out well for me and well for the game producer if they make a good product. If they don't i'm not handing over my cash anymore.

AoE 3 Complete Edition was On offer for 10 microsoft points. thought the deal was too good to turn down, not installed yet, but thinking about it I may give it a bash this weekend ;)

Psychonauts.

Yes yes I know its meant to be some sort of cult-classic, but the mechanics felt very dated for me, and the American "Kids Summer Camp" humour got really old really fast. I just was not having any fun in the main environments, and the game to me seemed to be devolving into a collect 'em up. A bit disappointing, so I stopped playing.

Also purchased "Frontline: Fuels of War" for some reason, and never got round to installing it when I realised I would never be bothered playing such a game with BC2 to keep me entertained.

I actually really liked this, but couldn't sort out the horrible stutter :(

Left For Dead! - I even got an email from Value asking me why I had played it so little. :p
Fallout New Vegas - I intend to play it but have yet to get round to it
Cities XL
Bioshock 2

I've download and played countless F2P games only once!

Tbh, nearly all games except BF:BC2, CS:S, DoD:S, CS 1.6 and KF :P And maybe TF2.

Thats it. I'm under 18, so don't have a Visa to buy games, and thank ****. If I did, I would have bough Crysis complete, BF2, Arma and many more games which are like 2.50 from steam sale :P

But tbf, I did get most of my STEAm games free (gifts etc.) :P

Call me a cheap stake all you want, but i pirate a ton of games, ones which i prob won't play for long.

OFP:DR (got to first battle, HATES the zoom/shot, so i left0
Sniper: GW (played +- 1 hour)
AC: B. Maybe I did 5% :S
Just Cause 2 (did tutorial, never re-played)
Boarderlands (never even opened)
Medal of Honor (never even opened)
