Games you'd like to praise

At the moment, and I know I'll get shot for this but DayZ. But moving swiftly on I love to always go back to classic strategy like Civilisation or Imperium Galactica 2. Just so easy to sink a few days into these.

Cities Skylines, I can spend hours upon hours tweaking roads in my city and not get bored.

Fantastic mod support on the workshop and a dev team in Paradox that actually seem to care, bought the game for £15 and spent £10 on the DLC last month, have put 200 hours into the game, for me that makes very good vfm and I'm still still playing, some sessions can be 2hours some can be 6-8.

Not been as addicted to a game for a long, long time. Nice to be able to sit down and have to think about what you do, what you place, where the optimal train station location should be etc. Not for everyone but by far the best city builder out now, and from the looks of it, for some time.

Well first game in ages I've brought at release full price (Almost at £32) is Fallout 4. It feels quite polished compared to FO3/NV and the only bad thing I have thought about it so far is the FPS drops when my card is only not even being used.

Same also get dips, seems its an AMD thing :(

That title should go to Ultima Online, there is no better mmo... ;)
Quake
Doom
Settlers 3

+1 for ultima online :D nothing else had come close to captivating me and my I still find myself returning there (resubbed last night lol)

Games that I'd praise and keep coming back to as the years go by:

Mass Effect
STALKER
Skyrim
Falcon BMS

I'll probably add Fallout4 to that. Fallout 3 would be on that list but it will just look and feel too old after Skyrim and Fallout 4.

Ultima Online
ARK : Survival Evolved (I should hate this.. but somehow love it!)
Morrowind, although I enjoyed playing Skyrim more, I enjoyed the stories of Morrowind by a country mile over almost all other games.
and last but not least..

Sensible World of Soccer. I dunno, just love that game :)

Resident Evil series
Fallout series
Skyrim
Stalker series
Doom 3
The Walking Dead telltale series

Games I could happily play again 10 years later, which i recently did with Resident Evil Remake and am sure I will with the rest.

Just playing my weekly binge of Witcher 3 (still ploughing through it, only get 3-6 hours a week to game) and I'm absolutely in love with it. It truly is a masterpiece that will no doubt stand the test of time and earn it's self, if it's not done already, a place in the hall of great games.

What are you playing? Think of praising? No point rating, simply as there is a thread for that already. Just a game you think is worth recognition.

Project Zomboid

Addictive wee indie game.

call of duty 1 and united offense + call of duty modern warfare (cod 4).

best shooters ever played hands down.

battlefield bad company 2. best battlefield i played that didnt have the console **** of now.

theHunter for me as it really has kept me playing when many games are just so lacklustre.

Dirt rally. best rally game i ever played.i haven't played a car game this good ever.

Dirty bomb.my favorite fps title at moment.better than stupid bf games and cod yet its free.

+1

Loved that game. One of the greats in level design.

Again, you took the words out of my mouth. Always has been my favourite version. Btw, if you haven't already, try out the Doom64 mod for PC. ;)

Awesome mate I'll check the 64 mod out, currently playing Doom II with the brutal doom mod :-) so it'll have to wait hehe.
Unreal is so overlooked, most people just recall unreal tournament and never mention or even played the original. So its always nice to come across fellow Unreal enthusiasts.

Another game I'd like to mention is F.E.A.R, one of them games every few years u just have to have a quick play through the campaign.

Found the storylines in the Bioshock trilogy epic. I've never been so captivated by a game's story and wanted to watch every single cut scene and observe everything to make sure I didn't miss anything. One of those games that I truly wanted everyone I know to play after I was finished just so they could experience it too.

Really loved the Half Life series. The lack of cut scenes really made me feel involved in the world and I loved that if I was in the wrong place or looking the wrong way, I could miss out on seeing a plot point, which made the game very realistic when I was playing.

The Crysis series also gets lots of brownie points for me for simply being able to make the world look so beautiful and realistic. I spent ages in Crysis (1) just watching the waves on the sand and the water flow down the visor when you surfaced, etc. The attention to detail in parts that most players would just run straight past really impressed me, in all 3 of the games.

Finally, the game that I've found the most fun of the modern era and I've sunk the most time into - Just Cause 2. I have no real idea why it's so awesome, it just is. I think it had me when in an opening mission, I was on top of a car that was being chased by police and found I could shoot the driver, or a tyre, or grapple the car to the road and cause it spin off the road, tumble end over end, and explode. Like an interactive over-the-top brain-off action film in so many glorious ways.

Planescape: Torment for showing that a story can drive a game.

Skyrim for letting me do whatever I want through mods.

GG War in the East and War in the Pacific:AE for scratching the grognard itch.

I really liked Spec Ops: The Line. After years of pathetic COD domination this game had a briliiant story and played so much better than COD. I just wish it was longer as it probably had a little bit longer single play through COD.

Also loved Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Sleeping Dogs was strangely a lot more engrossing than I though it would be. Tomb Raider was pretty sweet too.

My problem is now I buy games like they're going out of fashon and can never get into one knowing I have others. W3, MGSV and FO4 are pretty much untouched. I really need to just start from A and work through Z and not buy a game in the meantime. I'm sure people will have much longer than me but here's my Steam Left count: Matranti Steam Left
