Games you'd like to praise

Delta Force black Hawk Down & Joint Operations Typhoon Rising.

first FPS games on the PC. Such great fun, the whole rank & medals for recorded stats was awesome. Sank so many hours into those games.

Guild Wars 1 : Team based PvP done properly.

Batman Arkham Knight - the only game I've really felt compelled to play more than once. Great story and stunning visuals.

Morrowind - most played game in my gaming history, was a revolution to me coming from 2D isometric RPG's

I wouldn't say Men of War was the greatest combat simulator game there is, but it is in the top one.

I dunno if anyone has mentioned the Borderlands games, they have a funny story line so theyre always a good laugh to play through, especially if ya have a few mates you can play co-op with. Ive been playing online with some of the same guys for 15 years so a good co-op game every now and again is always appreciated.

Recently did dishonoured, although it's old ish now it was just a fantastic game, really good fun to play and had some interesting plot sections that i really wasn't expecting.

Edit; have to second joint ops, so much fun online with a good map and a good crowd, makes me sad when i play arma as i see it as jointops successor but every time it just puts me off with how badly it runs.

Planetside. Ahead of its time with what it was trying to achieve; a subscription model so SOE could concentrate on constant balance passes (which didn't balance) and game updates without the distraction of generating revenue through micro-transactions; a real feeling of playing in a war on a global scale. Sure, it had many flaws but I don't think in all the years since I have recaptured the same feeling as when being part of a squadron of gals congregating at a warpgate.

Joint Operations for me, loved that game, felt like BF2 for grown ups.

Guild Wars 1 and 2, love both the games.

But with my love of football it was sierra Ultimate Soccer Manager 98-99, saml far too many hours into that game

Spec Ops The Line deserves recognition. Great story in a fps of all things!
Also Tell Tale games' The Walking Dead, there are some memorable no win decisions that stay with you.

Tribes 2, did the big world FPS justice. Ascend is still pretty good, well worth a go.

Rez is still one of my favourite games....really hope we can get it on current-gen consoles

I'm going to have to go for the Prince of Persia Sands of Time trilogy. A very strong series of games. The first is an absolute classic - outstanding gameplay, great story, beautiful to look at. The platforming and the flow of the movement is brilliant. The combat isn't great, but it's good enough. I've completed this game so many times. The sequel, Warrior Within, suffers from a stupid emo gothic change in tone, with ridiculous blood and gore and paper thin female characters with their boobs hanging out, but that's offset by the fact that the level design and structure of the game is even better than in the first game. The combat is massively over the top and I could do without it, but I'll put up with it for level design like this. The third part, Two Thrones, fixes the tone and visual aesthetic, and the combat is a bit more manageable, though the level design is waning a bit by this point. It's still good, but not as good as it could be. So diminishing returns as you move through the series but when you've started so strong, even a bit of a drop off leaves you with a game worth playing at the end of it all.

X3:TC almost perfect, needed just a better base building mechanism, and the various mods added by the community as default parameters.

Deus Ex Original, perfect story for its time the best game of type and sort.

Path of Exile. It's truly an awe-inspiring example of how a dev team can single-handedly elevate an entire genre despite a severely limited budged. It gets better with every patch and offers endless hours of immersive, complex, emergent and rewarding gameplay.
