Gaming Kickstarters

So a Kickstarter launching next week is the Official Dark Souls game. It's being made by the guys behind Guild Ball and I got a chance to play it today at Salute and I was really impressed!

I know someone else who got a chance to play it, and they were less impressed. Their chief criticism was that it's essentially a game of trial and error where success is still dependent on a die roll even if you get it right. I imagine that it can be quite appealing as a demo, but the long term replayability is pretty low.

I've backed the Dark Souls kickstarter, its the first kickstarter I have have ever backed but given my love for the series and of minis in board games im glad I have done as they are unlocking some very nice extras.

Im tempted, how much do you have to pledge to secure one?

£80 + £7 p&p in the UK for the core game (plus a lot of unlocked extras) they have also announced 4 boss expansions at £28 each but I haven't pledged for these yet as another £112 is a lot for a bit more content in one go... I'm very tempted to get a couple though as I do like big dragon models.

its the most I have paid for a board game as I am normally happy to wait for them to drop a bit in price but Dark Souls is my favourite game series so I have a strong interest in the characters and as sad as it might be the fact it can be played solo is a big plus for me.

Not sad at all mate tbh its not easy to get 4 or so players together especially for a game like this i imagine

Thanks for the info

A nice idea if you don't/can't drive to where you are gaming. Ours generally go in 2 crates and into the back of the car.

An general game box with organised compartments would be good (a bit like Zombicide boxes). I could decant all my Firefly stuff then and Red Dragon Inn into a standard sized box.

A piece of advice: no rulebook, no pledge. If they can't show you at least a full set of rules in progress, the game is not far enough into playtesting to be good by the time they plan to release it.

Going on a little trip to the UK Games Expo this weekend to pickup my friend's Devil's Run KS. Will be great to finally play it but there will be a lot of wheels to glue on first :D.

I don't know how many Star Realm fans are here but a fantasy skinned version with some additional mechanics is being kickstarted now.

Excited for this one myself as I don't get much time to play games now a days. Star Realms is one of the few that I can just pop out on a train journey and get a couple of games in and as such is probably the only game from my collection that has hit 10+ plays. The higher pledge for this version has a solo mode which is an added bonus for me.
