Gaming P.C full build. Advice needed

well yea, make sure the system is fully working first by prime95'ing its backside for a good hour or so then overclock the nuts off that bad boy!

I wouldn't recommend the Cooler Master Silent Pro PSU. I built a PC for my Dad with one, and the sata cables were faulty. I had to use molex to sata adaptors. It turns out it's a common problem with that PSU.

So after what seems like an eternity deciding on parts it's all been ordered. Have finished up with

Cooler master HAD 932 case
Gigabyte Z77-D3H ATX Mobo
Intel i5 2500k 3.30Ghz
Corsair Vengeance 8gb RAM
OCZ 650W ZT series PSU
Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
Crucial M4 128GB SSD
Asus GTX 680
Windows 7 Home Premium
Some Sony DVD RW that will never get used...except for windows :)

Boy am I looking forward to running this bad boy! Just played GW2 for about 30 minutes and it was so so laggy, graphics were horrible. Looking forward to seeing the GTX 680 in action in the flesh

looks good. post pics of the build please :)

Would you like pics of it when I break everything and it goes wrong? :)

Not built a computer for 4 years! And that was my very first build. Bit worried because of how pricey the GTX 680 was.

Next stop is a sweet LED monitor. Currently have a Samsung LCD about 22" which isn't bad but it won't go to Full HD resolution so that purchase is coming straight out of next months pay packet.

A stock cooler supplied with aRetail box is good for 4-4.2Ghz.

For the 4.5Ghz and more that people want, then a aftermarket heatsink is needed to keep the temps reasonable.

It's horrible not knowing enough information yourself when buying these expensive parts. Reading through various websites and seeing all sorts of claims like

An i5 2500k will bottleneck the GTX 680
650w isn't enough for a single 680
OCZ is a poor brand of PSU

etc etc

Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

GeForce GTX 680 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit.
GeForce GTX 680 SLI - On your average system the cards require you to have a 750 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

The 680 needs surprisingly little power for a flagship card :)

With any large company someone will have had a bad experience: OCZ make decent PSUs. Here's a review of the one you're getting:

Cancelled my i5 2500k order and opted for the i5 3570k.

Was nice to be able to buy another part from overclockers too after all the advice I got. Unfortunately some stuff was just to cheap elsewhere as I'm converting to Euros!

Ordered from Overclockers:

Coolermaster HAF 932
i5 3570k

Elsewhere:

Corsair M4 128GB
Seagate Barracuda 2TB
Gigabyte Z77 D3H
Corsair 8gb RAM
DVD RW
OCZ 650 ZT PSU

Was just too much money to order everything from the UK.

I assume everything will still work together and be cool enough without additional fans?

In other news I've just seen the location under your grav. I lived in WSM for 25 years up until 3 months ago :)
